I am using WordPress and Catch Themes with Featured Slider on the Home Page.  I have loaded 4 images that display an image on each load of the home page.  I can’t get the slider to run automatically, no idea where to look at each menu item.  www.largsprobus.org.uk

@matigka : Login to your WordPress admin section.
Go to Apperance => Customize => Theme Options => Featured Slider
Enable the slider section and under Display Content : Select Show Excerpt and select the desired pages that you want to display using the slider. The button will link to the content of the page that you have selected.

If you would like to display custom links and want more options you will need to upgrade to Euphony Pro.

You can remove that Slider Overlay, go to “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Featured Slider” and in the “Slider Overlay” option, just type 0 and publish it.

@ajfoto : The image slideshow section is Featured Slider section and it’s not Header Media section.

To change the slideshow images : Login to your WordPress admin section.
Go to Appearance => Customize => Featured Slider
Under Enable Slider on : Select Homepage/Frontpage or entire site.
Under Select Slider Type : select Page and select the pages as desired. The featured images of pages will appear as slider images. Let me know if this helps you out.

I installed the free Theme. I linked the slider to 3 pages. They 3 different sliders show on the front of the site the title and a text of the page. But only one shows a button. The text of that button I can not change and I do not see where I can put a link. Where can I change that, and where can I add the buttons (and links) of the other two pages?

I have been using Catch Everest Pro for more than two years. My current system configuration is detailed below.

Over the last few years, I have noticed that occasionally when I try to customise the colours or featured slider, for example, in the theme, my browser hangs. The only solution is to shut down the browser and re-login to my website.

Yesterday (14 October 2022), I tried adjusting the featured slider’s transition delay and length. I selected ‘zero’ for both. This caused my website to hang completely. This was not resolved by shutting down my local browser – it caused a hang of the website on the host server.

I was unable to log into my website from anywhere. I tried two computers and two phones. I also tried logging in from my phone over the 4G network to rule out my local router. I also asked my son to look at my website from his home. All showed a hung website with no ability to log in.

I called my hosting company and spent 1.5 hours on the phone with them. The call agent was unable to fix the problem.

I managed to fix the problem myself in the following way:

1. I opened my Edge browser in private mode
2. This allowed me to log into my website. Once in, I found I could edit any part of it, provided the website itself was not displayed on my computer. Each time I tried customising the theme, which displays the website, my browser hung, and I had to start again
3. My solution was to change my theme to the non-pro version of catch Everest. This enabled me to customise the theme and change the featured slider transition settings to anything but zero
4. In switching back to the pro version, I found the problem had been resolved

In conclusion – there seems to be a bug in the Catch Everest Pro theme that intermittently hangs a browser when certain aspects are changed (colours, for example) and catastrophically hangs the hosted website when the featured slider transition settings are set to zero (it worked ok when I changed to the non-pro version). I would imagine the two issues are related. Please also note that the intermittent hang described above has occurred since I started using the theme. It is, therefore, not associated with the recent updates of Windows or Edge.

Can anyone advise on this issue, please?

I’m trying to put a gallery page on our homepage of a video and accompanying side text (on https://atriummag.org/ under the featured slider). I’m using the columns block to do this because ‘media and text’ doesn’t support video embeds, but the columns block isn’t showing its normal settings. I can adjust ‘width’ but not margins, and because of this the video and text are stretching to the very ends of the screen.

I’m thinking this is because of a !important property in the theme, but I couldn’t pinpoint it down. Is this the issue? If not, how can I get the normal columns block back?

To enable header media with multiple images you will need to enable the Featured Slider option from the customizer.  To know more about adding Featured Slider in the theme please follow the link below.

Is it possible to display an image gallery instead of the featured image? This is above the page title, so the block editor’s image gallery doesn’t show the desired result. Also, I can’t get along with the block editor (it shoots up my pages).

@sziszi : The thee different picture with link is the Featured slider section and it’s not the header media section.
To enable the Featured Slider section. Login to your WordPress admin section.

Go to Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Featured Slider

1. Slider: You can edit that from “Appearance => Customize => Featured Slider”.

2. Just below the slider, it’s called  “Hero Content” and you can edit that from “Appearance => Customize => Hero Content”.

3. Header Highlight Content, you can edit that from “Appearance => Customize => Header Highlight Content”

4. Portfolio, you can edit that from “Appearance => Customize => Portfolio”

5.  Featured Content, you can edit that from “Appearance => Customize => Featured Content”

6. Promotion Headline Options, you can edit that from “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Promotion Headline Options”

7. Logo Slider, you can edit that from “Appearance => Customize => Logo Slider”

To create a slider

Go to => Dashboard => Pages => Add New => Create new pages and add the content and you to have in the slider and Update the page.

Then,
Go to => Appearance => Customize => Featured Slider => Enable the section => Select Type as Page and select the pages you created earlier and Publish.

In the free version you can only select pages for the featured slider and the button will link to the page you have selected. To add a custom link for the slider images you will need to use the Custom Type which is only available in the pro version of the theme. I suggest you to upgrade to pro. You can check out the additional-features available in the pro version of the theme.

To remove the search icon

Go to => Appearance => Customize => Additional CSS and add the following CSS Code.

I’ve noted a few other users have raised this with respect to other Catch themes, yet there did not appear to be any response indicating the plans for resolution.  Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) issues with the theme, as reported by Chrome Lighthouse and other performance metric tools, impact the performance score the site receives.  Performance scores impact SEO.

I’m using Catch Responsive 2.8.4 on WordPress 6.0.  I have a featured slider on the main page (type page, 4 entries) and have featured content on the main page also (type page, 4 entries) and have a number of social links (that appear in the header).

When running a Lighthouse report (desktop) it reports a range of CLS issues.  The main one results from the late rendering of the featured slider, however the list is

• section#featured-content.layout-four.featured-page-content
• div#content.site-content
• div.cycle-pager
• aside.sidebar.sidebar-header-right.widget-area
• a.more-link

Choosing a mobile Lighthouse report shows that the theme performs even more poorly across a range of issues, not just CLS.

Is the theme still in active development?  Will these issues be addressed?  If so, when?

It seems a very good theme is getting a little dated and isn’t keeping up with the times which would be a real shame.

Hello again, Skandha,

I figured it out. The problem came when I updated the Themify Builder. I restored my plugins from before this incident and the homepage slider returned. I’ve disabled all auto updates for plugins to avoid this in future.

Also, I went back to the Catch Base free theme, because the 1 year renewal price for the Pro version has gotten too expensive, in my opinion. It forced me change the featured slider setup (setting up new pages with featured images rather than just using the custom images option in Pro) but it works.

Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete.

 

Catch Base  Template is missing. Standalone themes need to have a index.php template file. Child themes need to have a Template header in the style.css stylesheet.

I deleted and reinstalled the theme. Still no luck. Only 4 plugins in use.

Please advise!

To have a Header Image
Go to => Appearance => Customize => Header Media => Enable the section => Upload your Header Image and Publish. Also you can disable the Featured Slider section that is currently enabled.

To remove posts from homepage.
Go to => Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Homepage/Frontpage Settings => Toggle off Recent Posts/Content on homepage and Publish.

To add a button to the Header Image
Go to => Appearance => Customize => Header Media =>Edit the Header Media Url and Header Media Url Text and Publish.
