You can just upload a large header image. Also you have header right sidebar.

To change those text. Login to your WordPress Dashboard and then Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage Featured Content Options.

Then add in the image, title, description and links as per your need.

@TripleMoxy: If you want to have a wide page size then use the Full Width No Sidebar layout for those pages. This will bring full page width.

@CFarone: If you just want the slider and Featured Content. Then go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage / Frontpage Settings”, uncheck “Enable Latest Posts or Page?”

@onebreath: Don’t customize the theme by editing the core theme files and functions. If you want to customize the theme then use the Theme Options panel and for css use “Custom CSS” box in Theme Option panel.

But if you want to further customize the theme then build child theme and do the editing in codes in your child theme.

If you haven’t customize the core files then you will not loose your customization.

@twocarsm: You can choose the layout from “Appearance => Theme Options => Layout Options”. Then choose No sidebar in “Sidebar Layout Options”.

For all other pages and post you have the Sidebar layout options under your page/post editor.

@thess: The site maximum size is 1140px so above that it will show the space. You can see in our demo page. Many theme even don’t support more than 1000px.
