Hi All,
I’m brand new to the Catch Evolution template (free version).
I would appreciate knowing how to remove that black, translucent gradient bar that appears under the Post Slider featured images.

I’ve looked in the Theme Options > Featured Post Slider > Slider Options and Featured Post Slider Options and see nothing. I’ve deleted the captions, etc.

Hey sorry to bother you again.

I would like my site to be full width

-Is there any way to make the slider full with?
-I have added “.site { width: 100%; }” but now the featured content is on the left of the page.

@jadeprince: That is simple. Just go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider = Slider Options” and in “Enable Slider”, you need to select “Homepage / Frontpage” and save it.

I’m trying to work out how to float my site logo on the top left of the screen and have it over the top of the featured slider and the menu bar, with the menu bar and slider all the way at the top of the screen.

I went to the page you referenced and downloaded the catch-responsive-child theme. I added the code you provided to the bottom of the functions.php file. I activated the child theme. When I look at my site now, on the front page my content is gone and the demo contents are there for the featured posts and slider (but the menu contains all my pages). I go to edit one one of my pages and I do not see where there is anything for adding a custom excerpt.

Did I do something wrong? Sorry I am not experienced at this….

I have my website pretty much complete and it looks good. The only problem I have now is that because the “excerpt” for the featured slider has to be the same number of words for all of the pages, I either have to A) have some of them end randomly in the middle of a sentence, or B) I have to contort the first sentence of each page to have the exact same number of words as all the other pages. I can usually do B, but then when a visitor clicks on the link, the the first sentence does not really sound right. Is there any way to adjust the excerpt length for each featured slider page?

@gernot: In Free version, you only have option to use Featured Page Slider. So, you can just create page, add featured image in those pages. Go to “Appearance => Customize => Featured Slider => Featured Slider Options => Select Slider Type” and then select “Featured Page Slider” and finally the pages that you want to show in slider. For more about page slider, refer to http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-adaptive/#featured-slider-content

If you want more dynamic like Featured Image Slider and all then you need to upgrade to pro version. See the additional features that you will get in pro version at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-adaptive-pro/

Hi,

I’ve got a couple of issues that I can’t figure out.

1. After reading another post I’ve figured out to get the Feature Slider to scale to the width of the browser window, but can’t seem to get the Featured Content Background Image to do the same. Is there something I can include in the Custom CSS that will do the trick?

2. I’ve been trying to add the Facebook Custom Audiences Pixel to the head of my website, but whenever I do no content will load on my website and I just end up with a blank screen. Is this a conflict with something in Full Frame Pro… as I imagine it works on other websites without many issues?

@Harry: Ok for that you need to replace the previous code with the following:

@Dhuan: All those detail color options are there only Pro version.

1. For slider text, you can change the color code in the following css and then add it in “Appearance => Theme Options => Custom CSS” box:

#slider-wrap .featured-text {
    color: #fff;
}

2 and 3. These blocks are widget in Primary Sidebar. For that, you can just go to “Appearance => Widgets”. If you like to add image then you might want to drag and drop “Adspace Widget” to your sidebar and add images.

4. The three boxes in footer are widgets in “Footer Area One”, “Footer Area Two” and “Footer Area Three” . For this also, you need to go to “Appearance => Widgets” and add in widget to these areas.

But if you want then you can do it in custom way. For that, you need to build child theme. For child theme, refer to http://catchthemes.com/blog/create-child-theme-wordpress/ and then just add the following code in your child theme functions.php file:

@Lizi: You shouldn’t add any files inside `catch-evolution-pro’ theme directory. All your new image should be added from “Add Media”. If you want to add image in post/page, then you need to add it from “Add Media” button in your page/post. If you just want to upload image, then you can upload it from “Media => Add New”.

But if you are trying to change image in slider. Then you can upload image from “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Slider”

So, please post in your site URL and tell us what are you trying to do it. Then I can suggest you accordingly.

@Lizi: There is no option to replace the static image with the featured slider as these two are different.

If you want to ads in slider, then you need to go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Slider => Slider Options”. Then you can select slider type as “Featured Image Slider” and if want large slider then you need to select “Full Width Slider” from Slider Layout. But if you want small one then you can select “Normal Width Slider”, then you can add image.

@philmi: I see that you are using Catch Responsive Free theme which has some limitation over Pro version. You can check additional information about pro version at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-responsive-pro/

1. Yes, in free version you only have option to user “Featured Page slider” and “Featured Page Content”. For this, you just need to create pages from “Pages => Add New” and then you can select that page in your slider from “Appearance => Customize => Featured Slider => Feature Slider Options”.

But for Slider and featured content, make sure you have added in featured image in those page. As featured image will show in your slider and featured content. For featured content, check this http://catchthemes.com/blog/videos-blog/video-series-adding-featured-image-wordpress-postpage/

2. Where did you change the css. I hope you haven’t made modification to theme file like style.css. If you have done that then remove it as all the files inside ‘catch-responsive’ theme folder will be reverted back to original when you update the theme. So, best if to either use Custom CSS box at “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Custom CSS Options” box or if you have large css edit then it’s preferred to build child theme and add your css in your child theme style.css file.

So, to change the font size of just date/comments, we called it at entry meta. For this, just change the font size in the following css as per your need and then add it in “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Custom CSS Options” box:
