Hi I am having this same problem and have repeatedly tried. I have copied and pasted shortlink and saved and then disapears. Also have installed the catch id plugin but not sure how to use this. Any help would be appreciated
Hi!
First of all: Thank you a thousand times for this great theme. It’s nearly perfect.
I’m creating a new website at the moment and have at least two questions left:
1. I love to use the Featured Slider. But when I put in a picture in 1140x450px as it fits perfects for the Slider, it doesn’t fit anymore in the article anymore when it’s open. You see only the medium part of the picture then. Is there any solution for that problem I haven’t seen yet?
2. I haven’t found a way yet to add captions to the main picture of he article. But in terms of copyright in some cases it would be better to be able to name the source/photographer. Is there any solution, too?
Thanks a lot and best regards,
Fabian
PS I don’t know what a Post IDs is is it the name of the post? Why is there an edit button and an entry field in this step. If you could give very clear instruction about what is to be done in this last step of the feature slider it would be greatly appreciated because I have tried I even started watching the video you recommended but its an hour long which is a bit too long
Thanks
Hi I went through this forum and I see you have instructed people how to do this but I am like another user. IÂ can’t change the images in the slider to my own images.
I can do everything but the last step. I put the name of the featured post in the space next to Featured Slider Post #1. And then hit save- but it doesn’t save, well the image doesn’t change and when I go back to that field after saving there is nothing in it. Is the name of the post what I am meant to enter in that field?
Its a great theme. I really like it but if I can’t change the slider images- its no use to me
Thanks
Please enable displaying of pages in the posts slider (by setting a page id in the admin interface). It is really easy to do, you just have to add one line in catcheverest-functions.php (function catcheverest_post_sliders):
‘posts_per_page’ => $options[ ‘slider_qty’ ],
‘post_type’ => array( ‘post’, ‘page’ ), // new line to enable pages
‘post__in’ => $options[ ‘featured_slider’ ],
‘orderby’ => ‘post__in’,
‘ignore_sticky_posts’ => 1 // ignore sticky posts
Thank you!
To do this change in a child theme is a real pain! You need your own catcheverest_post_sliders()-function (obviously) and your own catcheverest_slider_display()-function calling your own catcheverest_post_sliders() function. And then you need a third function which unhooks the old catcheverest_slider_display()-function and adds your customized one. This function needs to be hooked to the ‘init’-action then. (All this can be done in functions.php of the child theme.)
Greetz,
xray
I’ve been looking to see if this was answered but I haven’t found it. Â I did find, however, how to change the background color of the featured slider. Â Thank you for that.
Now, what I would like to be able to do is to change the LINK color in the featured slider only. Â I want to leave the link color alone for the rest of the pages. Â Is that do-able?
Thanks!

@marko2028: Maybe this video will help you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oiov0L4blIw
This video show how to add Featured Post Slider in Simple Catch Theme. But it’s similar. It will show how ti find the ID, image and add in the featured post slider ID.
Hi Sakin,
I read it and I still can’t get it to work. All I want to do is add in my pictures in the slider. I first go to theme options under homepage settings enable latest posts or page. Then choose my category which I created and named it featured slide.
Next go to the featured post slider options for featured slider post #1 I click edit, I then create a new post name it Post#1, click the category featured slide, then I figured the correct thing to do is choose featured image and upload my image. I hit update, and nothing is working. Am I missing a few steps? Does the format have to be something specific am I uploading the image to the correct area? Please help?
In theme options– then to homepage options—homepage featured content option– then I just uploaded the pictures I wanted, put in a title and left the description blank.
@CFarone: If you just want the slider and Featured Content. Then go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage / Frontpage Settings”, uncheck “Enable Latest Posts or Page?”
@Cryptit: We have featured image slider in all our paid version of theme. In recent update, we are adding in option to choose from “Featured Post Slider”, “Featured Page Slider”, “Featured Category Slider” and “Featured Image Slider”. We will have this option in Catch Everest Pro version.
@Sakin: sorry for mistyping your name đ
Hello Sarkin,
you’ve wrote in a former post:
“Just add the following CSS in âCustom CSSâ box in your Theme Options panel to hide the text in Featured Post Slider
#main-slider .entry-container { display: none; }"
It will be nice if a future version of Catch-Everest is able to selective showing the text boxes on the FP Sliders. Atm it’s only possible to show the text, or to hide it with the customization of the CSS entry from above.
In a final solution, the web page should show some photos in the slider, some of them with further eye-catching text, some of them with only pictures – and yet it’s not possible to mix these both requirements.
A work around is to use empty a ( ) headline for example, which leads to a linking of an article with just the picture. But then some part of the white background box with the withe space is of certainly still visible.
Perhaps a combination of a real “image slider” and the feature post-slider which leads to articles/pages will be a “cleaner” solution.
Any plans so far?
As usual, your advice was perfect. thanks! Worked like a charm.

@silvia83: It’s fine you have add pages for your product. Only for the Featured slider you need to add in the post. If you are talking about this then sorry you need to create extra post for this.
But there is one option, if you don’t want the slider to link to post then want it to link to page. Then you might consider using redirect plugin to redirect your post to page. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/
Thank you very much Sakin, is it working !
