    Hi Sakin,

Just for clarification.  I have changed to a static front page, but I have noticed that the page menu at the top is now duplicated in the page as the title.

for example,  Need Content? in the nav bar is now duplicated as the page title in the content followed by the title “Writing for the Web” which I have set as the H1 header.

How do I correct this? I want people to navigate to the pages, so the permalinks are set to what appears on the nav bar but for SEO purposes I do want the page title to appear as the first line in the content.

    Any suggestions?

    Karin

@karinschultz: For menu, you can use Custom Menu through “Appearance => Menu” which give total flexibility in creating menu.

I don’t get it what do you mean by “I do want the page title to appear as the first line in the content” Can you show me the example of what you don’t want.

Hi Sakin – Just figured it out.  Its not in the Menu, its in the permalinks.  I have a simple menu – no dropdown. In wordpress, by default the page title comes up in the page url rather than the nav when writing the page which is what you expect in a blog.  I’ve had to change the permalinks to reflect the nav.  i.e. Need Content in nav is http://www.iwrite…./need-content – rather than http://www.iwrite…/writing-for-the-web which is the page title for that page. That eliminates the duplication on the page. i.e. Need Content? Writing for the Web which was coming up as the titles for that page.

With respect to the duplicate breadcrumbs in the blog, I’ve checked the settings in NavTX and I’ve had to check if home page is static, drop name etc. This eliminated the duplicate name in the blog breadcrumb trail.

As the site was fine before I changed the front page to static today, I can only surmise that the issues is how wordpress handles landing pages i.e. blog or home page.  If others are thinking of a static frontpage, adjusting the Settings Reading may be a good idea before proceeding to writing all your pages and posts.

Thanks for your help, now onto the upgrade. If you can suggest anything I should watch out for, it would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help. – Karin
