Hi, I am a retired former manager (not coder) of websites who created this very basic WP site several years ago for my musician daughter: http://www.cipherdom.com. I made a child of the Euphony Pro theme and kept customizations very simple. It’s all my work, for better or worse!

She needs some minor tweaks, the first I tried was to replace the hero background photo, which appears only on the home page. The Customize Theme tool let me upload and select the new photo, but it never actually replaces the original one. The new one shows up in the thumbnail under Customizing Background Image, but the large preview to the right of that never changes even after I publish the edit. The new photo also never shows up on the live site, obviously.

Could anyone help? And thanks so much in advance.

@cipherdom : I checked your site and It looks like you are using an older version of the theme. Can you please update the theme to the latest version and check if the issue gets resolved. If you are still having the same issue after updating the theme to the latest version please let me know.

Happy to do that, Tikaram, thanks. Before I do, just to confirm: Will the child theme I’m currently using still work? Not sure I have the ability to start again from scratch.

I purchased the latest 1.8.4 version of Euphony Pro and updated it manually per instructions. My existing child seems okay (nothing broke in the update), but the same issue exists because the background image won’t change after I upload the new image and publish. @cipherdom : It looks like you are trying to change the Header image rather than background image. To change the header image login to your WordPress admin section. Go to Appearance => Customize => Header Media.
Under Header Image : select the desired image and save your changes. Let me know if this helps you out.
