    I am struggling to remove the comments area from my site.
    Can you indicate where in the menu system this is disabled?

    @bobgarretthomenetworks-co-uk: If you want to disable the comment section in page then follow the steps:
    step1: Go to the edit page.
    Step2: On the right side you can see Discussion meta box. Uncheck the Allow Comment Section.
    step 3: Update/ Save it.

    You mean edit each page? The first few pages I have tried editing don’t seem to have a Discussion meta box. I then found that a newly created page did not have the comments box. Then I found it was a problem with my page template.
    Sorry, my fault!
