@Terry M: Look like WordPress upload error. Can you tell me which theme are you using it. To check if that is WordPress Setup or Theme Issue. You can change to default them and check in.
To upload Featured Image Slider in “Simple Catch Pro”, follow the instruction as below.
1. Click on Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Slider from your WordPress Dashboard
2. Click on Slider Options, then click on Image Slider
3. Click on Featured Image Slider Options
4. Then upload the images, once the upload is complete, click on Insert Into Post
5. Then add in the tile, content, link and target as needed
6. Click on Save Changes button
Pardon my confusion, this is probably mostly an issue with my lack of familiarity with the current WordPress.
In your theme, how to I create a menu item that leads to a simple list of all posts? I can see how to do this on the main page, where it will add all the posts underneath the “Featured Content” section (unless I remove that section in which case it shows up under the slider), but I can’t figure out how to get a dedicated place to show all the posts in reverse chronological order like any old blog.
I apologize, it’s literally been about five years since I created a WordPress site, so I’m partly learning all of this stuff again, and the dashboard looks different from what I’m used to as well 🙂
The video instructions look different than what I see. At 27:16 I click post thumbnail editor link but I don’t see any photos.
Can you send instructions for using featured image slider. Also, when I upload my image 976×313 I get an error – Error saving media attachment. Do you know why.
Ooo, I see that one of my ideas is already part of Everest! I can change the slider to match categories instead of specific posts. Great minds think alike 🙂 Haha!
This is 100% exactly what I’d love to see from the featured content area.
Thanks for the consideration. I’d love to just have it handled exactly the same way the slider is handled, where you enter post numbers for the ones you want in those three slots.
Or, have it handle the way I mentioned. I’m thinking you could tag certain posts with with a “Featured” category, and the theme will throw the three most recent posts in that category into the featured content section. I’d love to be able to handle the slider in this way too…
@Terry M: Simple Catch Pro theme “Post Slider” uses the image size 976px width and 313px height. So, you need to upload the image with that size so that it doesn’t crop. You can also check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oiov0L4blIw, you can just skip to 22 minutes.
Next option is to use “Featured Image slider” where you can upload any image you want. It will not crop it.
Can you give me the directions for cropping the slider image. Have a look at this website and you will see I’m using the featured post slider. The photo on slider # 4 needs to be cropped so we see faces instead of legs. It happens if I used a different photo, it doesn’t show the face.
@sakino akura: If you are using Catch Box Free theme, then you can add the following CSS in “Appearance => Theme Options => Custom Css” box to hide the text box in the slider.
#slider-wrap .featured-text { display: none; }
Hi all,
first many thanks for so a great theme. really well done.
my question, is there any way to remove the featured text box and text from the slider on a static page.
i have 4 slides that showcase various things and they don’t need any explanation.
i have seen various posts that are connected with styling the text within the featured slider or how to remove the : from the box by editing the function.php but as i say i need to remove the box below the slider image itself as well as the text.
i can do this in firebug and the small description box collapses without showing any text and it looks very good but i cant seem to find the right code to go into the Custom CSS Styles.
i am prepared to create a child theme and edit the functions.php if that’s what it takes but if there’s a simple css styling option available would rather try that.
i am running the latest version of the theme as well as the latest version of wordpress.
i have tried: main-slider .entry-container { display: none; }
but that didn’t seem to work for me.
any help much appreciated.
sakino
@tnotty: In this case, you can remove the old css I gave you and add the following one.
.featured-slider {
border-bottom: 40px solid #fee000;
}
@johnbroganjr: Please check the theme instruction at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-everest/
1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider” in your WordPress Dashboard
2. To add Posts in the slider, click on Slider Options and simply insert the ID numbers for posts in the boxes, one post ID number in each box
3. To change the slider effects and timing, go to Slider Effect Options which is just below Slider Options
4. Click on Save button
@rlsdesigns: Sorry you cannot link to page in Catch Everest Free Theme. If you want your slider to link to different links then you need to use Featured Image Slider. Featured Image slider gives your freedom to select link, title, content as per you wish, all optional. See this screenshot of Featured Image Slider http://www.pinterest.com/pin/548594798329509357/
@Eleina: Yours in also same.
1. You have large logo image http://www.captivatinghearts.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/473770215.jpg . You can replace that with small logo image from “Appearance => Theme Options => Logo Options”
2. Then you have menu
3. You don’t have slider. You can add slider from “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider”. See theme instruction at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/simple-catch/ and for this slider, you need posts.
@bekay86: Thanks for your appreciation.
Ok…I dont know why….but now it works !!!
Thank you for your effort !!
Great support!!!
Greetings from Germany
So… I updated the theme….It should be “clean” now.
But, however, the sliders are still not working…
@bekay86: I see that you are using version 2.6 so you can just go to “Appearance => Them” then you will see update message. You can just click on update to update theme them which will restore your file as well.
Okay, and how can I restore it then?
@bekay86: You customization done though Theme Options panel will remain. Only core theme files such as style.css, footer.php, header.php, index.php, functions.php will be reverted back.
Ok, and how can I restore the theme without losing my customized stuff?
I think about to uprade to Pro. Have I still to restore the theme, when I upgrade it?
Thanks a lot!!!
