@harbingersg : To change the masthead from transparent to black you will need to add a class in the masthead and you will need to add some js code as it cannot be accomplished with the help of css only. I would recommend you to hire a customizer to get your site customized as desired.

You Will need to set number of items to 8 and save and then refresh the page. The number of items will be displayed only after page refresh. Let me know if it works or not.

@aledaniel : You will need to download and activate the theme. All your post and pages and other media items will not be lost. You may need to customize your site to display some of the sections. Changing theme is easy and safe and no data will be lost. Let me know if you have any more questions.
