I’ve tried uploading the header image perhaps thirty or fourty times. Altering the header code was what I hoped would be a last resort. I just downloaded the theme again, then replaced the header file with the original, then uploaded the file once more and that didn’t make any difference. Whatever the intrinsic resolution, the file will only render in a browser at 1600×900 and 239kb.
I’ve tried different browsers, renaming the file—nothing makes a difference. Browsers are insisting on rendering the header image at 1600×900.
