I’ve just created a WP website using the Simple Catch theme 2.6.6. There’s a notification to upgrade to 2.6.7 however it also warns about losing any customisation. I’m new to this and am obviously worried about just clicking the update button and losing everything that I’ve been working on. I’m also not that confident about creatng the child theme at the coding level. i sthere any easier way to deal with updates in the future? Yes, I’m also doing regular backups.

@Teabear: The customization that you have done though Theme Optional panel and WordPress default will not be modified. But if you have customize any core theme files such as index.php, functions.php, header.php, style.css and so in then these files will be reverted back to original.

So, let me know the level of customization you have done and how can I help you with.

I don’t think so. You mean at a coding level? I’ve just done blogs, inserted slider images, put a logo next to the header etc. I’ve just used the theme template as is. I’m at teabear.net.

@Teabear: Then feel free to update it. It won’t be effected.
