    Just add the following css in your “Custom CSS” box in your Theme Options panel. You can change the color code as per your need. Change the code in the background color to add background color and change the color code in color to change the text color.
    #homepage-message { background-color: #000; color: #fff; }

    Also we are launching Catch Everest Pro theme next week which includes all color options.

    A related question: How is it possible to change the color of the ‘white space’? i.e. not the background color of the overall site, but the background of the header, featured content etc, that is by default white.

    @alyssahcanada: For header color, just add the following css in your “Custom CSS” box in your Theme Options panel
    #masthead { background-color: #000000; }

    Another related question: Is it possible to put an image in the masthead while still keeping the social media buttons on top?

    Thanks!!

    @maevamena: If you add the big header image in the header. it will push the social icons down.
