When creating a new post I always complete the excerpt field before publishing the post. Today that field is not shown in the sidebar even though it is enabled in the Preferences. The field was present two days ago when I published my last post.

I have tried using several browsers and restarting my computer without any change in the sidebar appearance.

Any suggestions?

I should also note that the Featured Image appears at the top of the sidebar instead of near the bottom as it was previously. I can supply screen capture images.

More information: I have 4 websites that exhibit this sidebar behavior and one that doesn’t. The four that do are running WordPress 6.6.1 while the one that appears correct is running WordPress 6.5.5.

We’ve checked and clearly found an excerpt option in the sidebar of editor.
The screenshot has been attached for you reference.

I hope the option should be there in your sidebar and there is nothing issue with the latest version of wordpress and yes the featured image option is now at the top of the sidebar with latest wordpress udpate.

Can you please send us the an screenshot of the editor and sidebar?

Actually I didn’t get your point as I can see ‘Add an excerpt’ and featured image option at the top of the sidebar. You can just click on ‘Add an excerpt’ link and add text.

You can click the screenshot to enlarge it.

Please let me know what you exactly wanted to do. I got confused as I can see the option there in the sidebar.
