I am in the process of rebuilding a blog using VisionArt with the expectation of purchasing the pro version once I get a few kinks worked out with the free version.

the blog testing site is https://hoke.org/beta   and there are two things that are causing me issues

    1. I have my front page set to be a static page and my blog’s “posts” page set up to use a page named “blog” (https://hoke.org/beta/blog) . It is laid out somewhat how I want it, but the page is taking the title of the first linked blog post and putting it in the header section … I would like to have it say something else, but cant figure out how to have it NOT take the first posts’ title as the header text … How can I override that behavior on this page?
    2. On single posts (blog posts) I cant find the setting to use Single Post – Right Sidebar template rather than Single Post … with the FSE configuration, where can that be set or configured?
Example: https://hoke.org/beta/2021/05/security-and-the-inhuman-element/ I want that to have a right sidebar for this and other blog posts.

Once I resolve those issues (Fingers Crossed 🤞🏻) I look forward to moving my live site over to the Pro version of this… yeah I am sure there are other questions but right now those two issues are what is holding me back from using it live and moving to the Pro version and some additional bells and whistles

@johnhoke-org : 1) To change the title of the blog page : Login to your WordPress admin section. Now you will need to edit the Blog page. Find the page displaying the blog post and edit it.
Next click on the header part containing the first post title. Click on the 3 small dots and you will find different options. Scroll down and click on Remove Post Title.  Now you will need to add a new block. Click on + icon and add Heading Block. Add text as desired and update the page.
    2) To add sidebar to your post : Select a post where you would like to display the sidebar. Edit the post. In the editor sidebar you will find template option. Select Template : Single Post (Sidebar on Right) as shown below and update the post to save your changes.

    Thanks Tikaram!

I will give both a shot and see how that works, especially the first issue with the title… if I add a new post if it will override the blog page title or not

    Thanks again!

Ok, I can change the sidebar on a per post basis, but I am reworking a site with hundreds of existing posts. Is there a way to

    1. make sidebar right the default for future posts
    2. bulk change the template for all existing blog posts? I could probably dig into the MySQL DB if I get a pointer to where its stored 😉

As for the title issue on the blog page (posts list page) there is no option that I can see to remove the title from the page when I hit the “…” menu

Thanks again for the help 👍🏻

    Update

Got the bulk change — totally forgot I can do that on the posts list interface — done… I can do it manually go forward, but would like to be able to set it for the default for blog posts.

I’ve tried a dozen or so different things for the title issue still cannot resolve it

@johnhoke-org : To change the Blog page title. Login to your WordPress admin. Select the Blog page and edit the page.
While editing the page. You will find the sidebar on the right side of the page. In the Sidebar : Locate Template and click on Template name. Next you will need to click on edit template.

You will need to select the post title block in the editor and click on 3 dots ( … ).  You will find an option to remove the Post Title. Remove the Block and add a New Heading Block. Insert the desired text in the Heading and click on update to save your changes. Let me know if this helps you out.

It took a bit of tweaking and trial and error, but I did finally get to where I want to be, and purchased the pro version for additional functionality (and to support the theme devs)

The final version is up at https://hoke.org/john/ and its fairly done… still gonna tweak a few things with envira gallery and the theme but overall extremely happy with the redesign

THANK YOU for all your help!

@johnhoke-org : Glad to know that you are able to get the desired result and thanks a lot for your support.  If it’s not too much trouble, I have a quick request: could you please leave an honest review? https://wordpress.org/theme/visionart/reviews/#new-post . Your review will help others know what to expect when they’re looking for the support I offer. Even a sentence or two would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks, and if there’s anything else at all that I can do to help, don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Have a good day! 🙂

    Regards,
    Tikaram
