The menu on my live site just shows Menu and is vertical, but in Admin it shows Horizonally  with the page names, which is what I want.

In case of plugin conflicts, try temporarily deactivating all plugins to determine if a specific plugin is causing the issue. Reactivate them one by one to identify the problematic plugin.
