when I’m in the Theme Options and open the tab “social links”, there is a new email option. I tried to fill in
– my email address. When people then click on the envelop item, they land on a page that doesn’t exist (www.example.com/[email protected])
– my already set up contact form site. As soon as I try to save this URL, it gets automatically deleted.
Shouldn’t people be directed to the contact form of the site if they hit the envelop icon?
Thanks a lot for your help,

Ok, understood. But why am I then redirected to an error page when I click on the envelop icon? The url shows http://www.example.com/[email protected], the message is the standard 404 “Oooops…”. Is this wanted?
I could of course set up a page for http://www.example.com/[email protected], but then this also means my email address is not spam safe anymore, as my email address is included in the url and therefore visible.

@Michaela: It is used as mailto code for that social icon. So, you need to add in your full email address. As that code check for valid email address.
There is one trick to do that if you want to add email icon with URL of your choice and not email address. There must be social link that you don’t use. So, add url in any one social links and send me your site URL. Then I will send you the custom css to change that social link icon to email icon.September 5, 2014 at 7:15 am #43410
Well, I put in my real email address and it didn’t work…
But I like the second option better anyway. What’s your email address I can send my URL to?

@Michaela: Hum, I just test in by adding my email address and it’s working fine. you just need to add in email like this
You can post in your URL there and if you want to hide it then I will remove that URL once I get it.September 6, 2014 at 2:14 am #43451
I had added my email address just the way you described, but that did not work. I left it in my settings, so you could check if that’s a general issue for users.
But for my site, I would actually like to have people directed to contact form when they click on the envelop icon. I won’t need the social link “WordPress”, so we could use this one.
Please remove link after having seen it.
Thanks a lot.September 6, 2014 at 10:56 am #43463
Thanks for your detail answer and we are able to find the issue. We have just fixed it and will release it in Version 2.2 soon. We will also add in Contact link. So, now in this version you will have option to add email address or contact link.
We have just submitted version 2.2 to WordPress.org and it will be released as soon as they approved it.
