    Hi there,
    is it possible by just adding a few lines of code to the child theme to add an additional
    4th, 5th … optional sidebar? Or do I have to use some plugin instead?

    @wolpertinger : You will need to customize your site using child theme but adding few lines of code is not going to work. I suggest you to hire customizer as simply adding some lines of code to a child theme is not going to work. Some additional coding is required to add optional sidebars as desired. Let me know if you have any further issues.
