    Hi Sakin,

I am working on the sidebar for http://www.iwritegreatcopy.com. Could you clarify:

    1. Catch ad space widget. If I want this widget to appear on each page and post, would I place this in the main menu or do I have to specify page or post and home page separately?

    2. Can I specify the page or post that the ad will appear with catch ad space widget? I see space for image (ad) and url (link to advertiser). If I want ad on a specific page, do I have to treat ads as featured images to get it onthe page I want?

    3. If I want to place a dummy ad so potential clients can view size and placement, could I do this using this widget or is this widget for placement only? I have noticed that wordpress has some plugins which will allow for this. Any suggestions on a plugin which would work with your ad space widget?

Thanks for any clarification you can give.

@karinschultz: You can use our “Simple Catch : Adspace Widget” to add ads in any sidebar you want. This widgets accepts “Ad Code” where you can just paste the ad code from various ads provider like google adsense. Also you can choose to just add in the ads image and links. It’s all optional.

About showing ads to particular pages or post. Why don’t you add the Adspace widgets in any of the Options Sidebar one, or two or three. Then you can choose from your page and post editor to select which site to show. In this way you can show different ads in different pages or same ad in all pages.

The concept of Sidebar is like this:
If you are using Page: It will first look if you have assign any optional sidebar and added widgets, then will look for Page Sidebar and then Main sidebar back as fallback.
Same goes with Post: It will first look if you have assign any optional sidebar and added widgets, then will look for Post Sidebar and then Main sidebar back as fallback.

Yes you can add dummy ads. That is not a problem. We have also used ads in demo site http://catchthemes.com/demo/simplecatch-pro/ where you can see the ad of Catch Responsive Theme.

Hi Sakin, That answered my question. I’ll revise and use the optional sidebars.

    Thanks, Karin

Hi Sakin, I have tried placing a dummy 250×250 display ad using the ad widget. Only the title showed. There is no code, so I have pasted in the image url http://www.writegreatcopy.com/?attachment_id=856, and no link url (I am assuming this is a link to direct to advertisers site, not the link to the image in my media file or link to page where I would like the ad to display)?
I’m not certain how you get an ad to show on a specific page or post as I am not embedding it into a post.
Also, not clear by what you mean by putting the ad into the options sidebar first and then choosing which post or page to show. How is this specified?

Any clarification would be appreciated.Site is http://www.iwritegreatcopy.com and the post is the archive post page. – karin

@karinschultz: yes the link http://www.writegreatcopy.com/?attachment_id=856 is not the image. I don’t see the image in this link. Please check for the image with your advertiser.

I also see that you have added the ads widgets thorough “wp125” plugin. So, I am not that aware of it.

I have already mentioned you the logic of sidebar. For archive page, you can use archive sidebar.

I think you need to consider hiring developer to work for you. You can get developers from http://jobs.wordpress.net/ and other site such as oDesk and Elance.

    Hi Sakin,
    1. This is a test! So I am using an ad from my media file which I should be able to do, following the layout of your plugin.
    2. The widget I am using is yours, not the 125 plugin. I would think that as your theme supports 2 plugins, that I should be able to use both your plugin and the wp 125 for 2 different ad sizes on the same page – the archive sidebar. Yes or no?
    3. If the ad title came through, then I would think that the image should also have come through, unless by image url you mean the file url? This is
    http://www.iwritegreatcopy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/250×250-ad-copy.jpg

So, as your theme relies on featured images, the question is, do I have to set the ad as a featured image to work in the sidebar? Yes or no?

As for developer – the idea is to get your theme to look more or less the way I want and then look for a developer to fine tune.

I would like to monetize this site, so if you can clarify the above, that would be appreciated.

    Hi Karin,

    1. This is a test! So I am using an ad from my media file which I should be able to do, following the layout of your plugin.
    — Yes you can.

    2. The widget I am using is yours, not the 125 plugin. I would think that as your theme supports 2 plugins, that I should be able to use both your plugin and the wp 125 for 2 different ad sizes on the same page – the archive sidebar. Yes or no?
    — yes you can. Just drag and drop the widget.

    3. If the ad title came through, then I would think that the image should also have come through, unless by image url you mean the file url? This is
    http://www.iwritegreatcopy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/250×250-ad-copy.jpg
    — the image link is not working, it is leading to Page not Found.

So, as your theme relies on featured images, the question is, do I have to set the ad as a featured image to work in the sidebar? Yes or no?
    — No you don’t have to set featured Image for ads. Ads are different and independent module.

If you are still confused. Then send me the ads image URL and ads target url, if you want to use image ads. If you want to use the script ads then send me the scripts. I will send you how to add it.

Hi Sakin, Interesting. If you have recevied a 404 error? (page not found) then that means it can’t locate the page the ad is on. As it is on the archive page, and not a post, that makes sense.

I am going to try and set the ad widget into the first options widget on another post rather than the archive page. And then check the media file and see if what is needed is the file name and not the file url?

If the ad comes up on another page or post, then the issue maybe the way the archive page handles “image” ads which have no codes?

I have uploaded the CT IDs plugin. Maybe this will help?

    I’ll keep you updated.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. – Karin
