I don’t really understand how that helps me, sorry. In any case, once I have finished developing the site it will be handed over to the customer and I don’t really want to be adding any more steps in for them to edit their website if I can help it. This is why I was looking for the standard automatic post to blog page function.
I have solved it with a plugin, but again I prefer to keep those to the absolute minimum for performance reasons. I’m not keen on having to use posts for the main image slider either, but I can work around that. I would have preferred something dedicated to that in the theme options panel.
My personal rule of thumb is that a new theme should ideally maintain the basic functionality of the default WordPress theme, and add its own features on top – without losing anything.
That’s not to run down the Catch Everest theme which is very generous in its features. And my customer likes it. If not for this issue though, I probably would have been curious enough to buy the Pro version for future use. You do have good support though, so anything less than a five star rating would be churlish.
