    My main page lists all my recent posts. I like this, though sometimes I make posts that I prefer to just be under a category and not listed on the main page so that it doesn’t push my best posts down.

    Thus far I have done this by manipulating the dates (just making a post and putting a date a few months old). This seems like a crude way to do it and I am wondering if I am missing something obvious.

    DO I even need dates on these posts? If so, how can I set it up so that not every post I make goes to the main page.

    @ToddWilliam: You can select the categories form where you want to show the post in the main page. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage / Frontpage Category Settings” and select the categories and save changes.
