I was testing with Verity and purchased the upgrade to Verity Pro (1.7.3) to start developing in the new theme.

With the theme enabled, hitting Customize seems to consume all memory and causes a crash. All plug-ins are disabled, and I verified that things work as normal with the default Twenty-Seventeen theme as well as Verity (non-pro version).

I tried this on two different hardware configurations and systems (FreeBSD, Linux) running different versions of Apache (2.2, 2.4) and PHP (5.6, 7.0) and had the same results on both systems. Here is the error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 72 bytes) in /[my-web-directory]/wp-includes/meta.php on line 837

@ashleycovelli : Please contact your web hosting server and ask them to increase the memory limit to a higher value. The Pro version of the theme requires higher amount of memory since there are more features available in the Pro version of the theme. If the problem still persist, try installing the fresh copy of theme again. Let me know if you need any further assistance regarding the issue.

    Hi Tikaram,

Thanks for the suggestions. I wiped out the theme directory and installed a fresh copy. I boosted memory from 128MB to 256MB and things appeared to be working better, however the Customize screen was still timing out. I increased the memory all the way up to 1024 MB and the Customize screen will only load intermittently. At this time, Customize is just a white screen.

I can’t imagine that the theme needs more than 1 GB of RAM to operate. What is the recommended memory limit for Verity Pro?

@ashleycovelli : 256MB should work perfectly for the theme. I think you will need to look upon some other areas and contact your web host regarding the issue. Let me know if you have any more issues.

    Regards,
    Tikaram
