You have mention as Pro initially and again the code you provided along with line number matches the free version of the theme. I will contact with the development team regarding the issue.

TikaramtikaramParticipant@toerfiets: I checked your site and its display only one category. It looks like you have selected only one category from the customizer. The first item will display the excerpt text while other items will display heading only as you can check in the demo of the theme. I don’t seem to find any error associated with it. Please make sure that you have assigned the post to the categories that you are displaying in the what’s trending section. If you are still having issue selecting category, I will assist you through the process.

Click on edit option to edit the portfolio item. Scroll down in the text editor. In the right block locate Featured Image. Click on set Featured image and select the desired image. Click on Update to save the changes.
