It was indeed enabled as explained. And actually it does show as mentioned.

But after further investigation I realised the menu as it is now is as the theme is made/meant to show.
Because in the Demo theme it’s the same.

But as said, after further investigation I realise to have it on top it must be done by Widget or customizing code. That’s also how I must have done it on the other website.
