I created a child theme but then deleted it. I re-activated the original theme and unfortunately most of the customizations that I did are lost.

What happened? How can I get those back? For example, my slider posts are deleted, the social icons seems to have reset, and other.

    This is urgent.

Also, my widget customizations — such as putting sitemap in footer — have all changed, been deleted or moved around.

This is going to be hell to fix. What went wrong? All the changes were previously made to the original theme in the customizer. It appears that nothing saved when I deactivated the theme.

    Hi @pal_coche,

This has been an issue with the WordPress’s customizer. When a child theme used, it doesn’t inherit the settings from the parent theme and vice versa. The issue you are facing now is the same. Now what can be done is, create a child theme and activate it, you’ll get all your settings back and if you want to switch to the parent theme then you need to move all the settings that were changed in the child theme one by one by setting it again in the parent theme manually. There hasn’t been any alternative for this yet.

    Regards,
    Mahesh
