I’m trying to figure out why, now that I’m working on migrating my site and changing the domain, that every time I do a search and replace in the database of domain names, the customization of the front page is wiped?

Can you discuss how this data is stored so I can get this unfarkled?

    Thank you.

@Tim: You are missing serialization of database when you perform basic search and replace. Try script like this https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

    Sakin,

Can you please provide a few specific instructions on how to change domain name when using a Catch Theme? For example, abc.net -> abc.com.

    Thanks!

@John: This is more of domain transfer question then of theme. Whether it’s catch themes or any other theme, domain transfer is same for all. So, best will be to take help from your server or domain transfer services like https://fantasktic.com/.

As when you transfer domain, you need to move all files and folders, then you need to copy database. Then only you need to upload search and replace code https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/ and perform search and replace. This tool will replace your old domain name with new domain name in database.
