Hi! Happy New Year! We need help getting social media icons displayed on the site. I found the “Social Icon Module” in “Catch Web Tools” and I enabled it and set some settings but the icons don’t appear. I added the “CT: Social Icons” widget to the “Footer 1” menu and the title of the widget appears, but not the icons themselves. I found the FAQ entry that instructed me to add the social media links using “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Social Links” but the “Social Links” option doesn’t appear. I see “Services” and “Stats” but not “Social Links”.
Are there any comprehensive instructions on getting social media icons displayed? I would like them in the site footer or maybe the site header or in a block I can control.
Thanks in advance!

You can use the Social Icons option in the theme for that.To add social icons on the header or footer
Go to => Appearance => Customize => Menus => View All Location => Header Social Menu/Footer Social Menu => Edit Menu => Add Items => Custom Links => Insert the link to your Social Media and Text and Publish.Let me know if this solves your issue.
Kind Regards,

So, when I click “View All Locations” and I see the “Header Social Menu” and “Footer Social Menu” entries, “–Select–” is shown as the menu option. I presume I need to change those to “Social” and then add the custom links to the “Social” menu. Is this correct?
Thanks!
January 5, 2021 at 1:26 pm #269953tomdkatParticipant@Skandha Also, is it possible to include the social media icon (Facebook, Twitter, etc) in the menu?
Thanks!

Yes, you will need use Custom Links to include the Social Media icons.Yes, you can include the social media icons by inserting the Social Media Links when you create a Custom Link.
Let me know if you are still having issues setting up social menus.

URL
Navigation labelI can fill those out and I get a link icon that works, but I can’t read the navigation text (black text on black background I believe). So, I’m not sure how I can specify the icon, given the spot to edit the social media menu you directed me to above.
Thanks!
January 6, 2021 at 11:17 am #270066tomdkatParticipantBy the way, the “Photofocus Pro” theme demo has a typo. The “Contact Us” button at the very bottom, left of the page has the label “Contact Uss” (two ‘s’) 🙂
Ok, back to the issue. What I’m trying to do is add the social media icons to the social menu in the header.
Thanks!

Do you want to the text to be visible along with the social media icon? Is that what you mean?Kind Regards,
SkandhaJanuary 7, 2021 at 10:51 am #270204tomdkatParticipantHi! No, what I’m saying is I don’t see anyplace to choose or setup a social media icon. What I see is the place to enter the URL and a label. When I expand the social menu, in the header, I see the icon of a chain-link and I don’t see how/where to change that icon to a Facebook logo or a logo of my choosing.
With the “Social Media Icons” widget, I can see the standard icons. Let me see if I can post a link to a screenshot. I’ll try to do that later today or tonight.
Thanks!
January 9, 2021 at 12:44 am #270390tomdkatParticipantOk, here’s a link to a screenshot: https://imgur.com/Fzana0H
Be forewarned: the site is a birth photography site and contains some images of newly born babies. Nothing “gross” but the photos might be a touch “jarring” to some. In any event, in the screenshot, you’ll see the social menu I enabled, in the upper right corner and the URL of the one menu item I added in the lower left corner. Near the mouse pointer, you’ll see the “chainlink” icon I mentioned above. It’s in that spot I would like to see the social media icon (Facebook, Twitter, whatever).
Is this possible?
Thanks!
January 12, 2021 at 1:51 pm #270715tomdkatParticipant@Skandha Any ideas on my social media icon issue as described above?
Thanks in advance!
January 12, 2021 at 11:06 pm #270762SkandhaParticipant@tomdkat: Hello there,
Sorry for the late reply. Can you please let me know which link you used to setup a social icon? Is it https://www.thx.com/ that you used?Kind Regards,
SkandhaJanuary 13, 2021 at 1:00 am #270766tomdkatParticipant@Skandha Yes, I used that as a test. Will the icons be automatically generated if I use a “Facebook” or “Twitter” URL?
Thanks!
January 13, 2021 at 1:16 am #270768tomdkatParticipant@Skanha Ok, I see. I’ll update the other links now. Thanks for the tip!
January 13, 2021 at 1:28 am #270770tomdkatParticipant@Skandha Ok, one last question: how do I get the social media pages to open in new tabs/windows from the social media header menu?
