February 8, 2022 at 10:31 am in reply to: suddenly menu options will not suppress “search” from displaying #299239Jim SuttonParticipant
Go to=> Appearance=> Customize=> Theme Options=> Header Options=> Check to disable the header options(which will also disable search options in header section)
This worked. Thanks
Jim SuttonParticipantThanks Skandha. I added the CSS (ne. w territory for me!) and no complaints from google. Sorry took me long – I was quite sick for a long while. Jim
Jim SuttonParticipantOK I am got it – I was confusing the primary sidebar with the optional sidebar. Sorry
Jim SuttonParticipantI am still trying. I installed the plugin to go back to classic widgets. But it is the same two default widgets that always appear, no matter what I try. humaninterests.org
Jim SuttonParticipantI deactivated the Instagram feed plugin but no difference. I have speed problems complicating and preventing everything. The mobile disqualifications are still there, but I must put them aside for now. Thanks, Jim
Jim SuttonParticipantWhen running the mobile friendly test it says “Page is mobile friendly” but also Page Loading Issues” and then “Page partially loaded
Not all page resources could be loaded. This can affect how Google sees and understands your page. Fix availability problems for any resources that can affect how Google understands your page.”
The detail then points to issues with page resources:

All my attempts to get the site and the sitemap recognized are through the google search console, where it shows no activity for the site. Down the left side is the sitemaps option, where the sitemap URL I feed them is not able to be fetched/read. Since it is not able to see the site or the map, I go to the search console again and make it refresh the inspection, and this it says “URL is not on Google” and present a button to “TEST LIVE URL”, this then gives the message “URL is available to Google, but has issues”. Then the underlying messages are CLICKABLE ELEMENTS TOO CLOSE TOGETHER and CONTENT WIDER THAN SCREEN, and if you go deeper it gives sources like “https://humaninterests.org/wp-content/plugins/catch-infinite-scroll/public/css/catch-infinite-scroll-public.css?ver=1.7.9”
Please let me know…
Jim SuttonParticipantThanks @Skandha. When the categories are displayed, is there an easy way to show just the “primary” categories (not sub)? Please and more thanks.
Jim SuttonParticipantHello @tikaram. I found the featured post option and it is working nicely. Jim
Jim SuttonParticipantthank you, tikaram. embarrassingly easy once you pointed it out! now I am looking for how to use “sticky” or “featured” post. regards, jim
Jim SuttonParticipantYes, thanks, Skandha. I see that. I was trying to control which image gets displayed for a category, and it looks like it uses the image from the most recent post within the category. Ok, I get it, thanks.
By the way… Is there a way to stop the blog from showing or limit the number of posts that show under the blog heading?
