Paul TParticipant
After inserting this, the LARGE SCREEN DISPLAY IS GREAT, but on a my cell phone, the gap between the top of the donate button and bottom of “Thank you for your Donation!” is too large for me.
can that gap be adjusted to be about 10 pixels less? I.e. the button moved up a bit? (this will make the whole section still a bit smaller in the vertical direction on my mobile device…)
Thanks
Paul TParticipantOK, we are real close!!!
Now when I view the website from my cell phone.. the right 1/4 of the donate button is chopped off… (if possible I’d love to keep it on the right however like it is now.. so it still does not add vertical height to the overall promotion section).. can it just be moved a bit to the left to show completely?
The other thing is that the button (on a large display and cell phone, and on my tablet) is right up close to top… can it be centered vertically?
Thanks.
Paul TParticipantI am wishing that the overall height of this Promotion Headline Section can still be a bit less… I would like less padding at top and bottom…
I am comparing it to the site I am trying to upgrade… franciscanfriars.org notice on that site.. this section has less vertical height.. and I can get more words in horizontally also…
So in summary two questions:
1. Can overall height of section be less
2. Could I get a few more words into the section (in the horizontal direction) and still not add to the height. (again see francsicanfriars.org for what I’m trying to acheive on this test4.franciscanfriars.org site)Thanks.
Paul TParticipantPerfect! Thank You!
Paul TParticipantThat did it!!! Thanks.
Paul TParticipantThanks… this is better, but there are still two things I would like to do differently…
#1) The Title Text and Tagline are (I am guessing) center Justified in the 75% of the screen area that the custom CSS code you gave me allows them…. thus making a gap between the logo and the words… I would prefer the layout I get on my current operational site: franciscanfriars.org where the text is left justified right along the right edge of the logo image…
#1) with the code you gave me, when I go to a tablet or mobile device.. where the logo image is removed (which I agree is the best thing to do)… the Title Text (and Tagline) do not center but are left Justified in the overall header space (I could live with this… but I’d prefer it to be centered for the smaller screens…)
Thanks
Paul TParticipantThanks! Problem #1 solved! That is the semi-transparent background over the whole header image IS AWESOME!! I love it.. I think you should off it as part of normal options…
However… I still do not get the Infinite Scroll (click) navigation bar to show up below the post I have on my HOMEPAGE… (again it shows up on a mobile device in the Promotion Headline section… looks real bad…)
I inserted the code you gave me.. seems to make no difference.. if I go to the Customize==>Theme Options==>Paginate Options==> and select either the Default or the Numeric.. it works fine.. but both infinite scroll options do not work…
Thanks
Paul TParticipantops… also just noticed when I switched to the “Show Excerpt (Image Top)” mode, that you showed me, it seems to cause the pagination click bar beneath the excerpt to go away… (and actually shows up on a mobile or tablet screen, in the midst of the promotion headline… (I am using the Infinite Scroll (click) Pagination type under appearance==>theme options==>pagination type.)
Paul TParticipantthe semi transparent background works great…THANKS… but just wondering if I can make it More Better (smile)…
could the background be closer aligned to the text… i.e. smaller and only extending beyond the text by a small amount??? Or conversely, could it be made bigger to cover the whole image??? Either approach might make it more seamless and pleasing to MY eye. Thanks!Paul TParticipantI am using Catch Adaptive Pro on test4.franciscanfriars.org. I am randomizing a few Header Images, and the Site Title and Tagline can be hard to read on some images, due to the white text on the random image. (note sometimes it is good, sometimes not, depending on the random image). Is there any cleaver way to address this so that the text is always readable??? E.g. White text with Black Outline… or a semi-transparent (adjustable opaque) small background behind the text.. or automatic text color based on background image.. or perhaps more shadow on text… or perhaps you have better ideas??
Paul TParticipantYes this works…. but I was leaning towards having the header images above the site title text.. doing it this way (header right) makes the header text display above the images… anyway to have images above the header text???
Forgive the many questions, I am still searching for the right look for my newer improved website yet to be published…
Paul TParticipanttest4.franciscanfriars.org
Paul TParticipantThat is a perfect solution! Love the Customer Support, and custom CSS feature on Catch Base themes is great feature, making design very adaptable!!!! Thanks
Paul TParticipantIn the above request… I think it is more correct to say the following in the second paragraph..
However, on mobile devices, since the menu is different, there is no border between the BACKGROUND IMAGE and the featured content slider, and the two images clash. I would like to put a border, or a black line at the bottom of the BACKGROUND IMAGE on mobile devices only.
hope that clarification helps and does not confuse!
Paul TParticipantAlmost…
Sorry, I did not have the logo on my site when you looked at…
test2.franciscandiscernment.org (It is there now..)
The site is now the way I am hoping to have the site on large screen.
However, I want the mobile device to have:
1. Smaller Site-title Font on Mobile (30px)
2. Smaller Site-description on Mobile (20px)
3. I do NOT want the LOGO (the white square at left in header image) on mobile device(I do still want the header image…. (but thanks to you I have a backup plan to remove it if need be!)
The other weird thing is the type of font on the mobile device for the site-title is different than the type of font on large screen. I am using Impact, Charcoal, sans-serif on the site, and the mobile device – i am guessing – is switching it back to default sans serif, arial?
Paul TParticipantI am building my site at: test2.franciscandiscernment.org
In summary, I entered custom CSS to change font size of both site Title, and tagline. But when I do that, it seems the design is much less responsive, and my fonts are appearing too big in mobile site… so first I am wondering if there are ways to set fonts for each full screen and mobile devices.
second, it seems the font I chose for the site header on the large screen gets switched back to the default font on mobile device also. (Not too big of a deal, but I love the font I get on the larger device, would like to get it on the mobile also.)
Finally, the site Logo looks good to me on the large screen display, but again takes up too much room on mobile. So I was hoping I can have it display on the large screen, but then enter a CSS to have it NOT display on mobile devices.
Thanks.
Paul TParticipantOr, in addition to above, it might work better for me if the site logo could be displayed for full screen, but not on mobile device… thanks
Paul TParticipantActually, really could use help… is there a way to have the font sizes different on mobile device… I.e. set font size separately for each full display and mobile… according to my research there was, but I tried it and it did not work…I think it was catch box theme, not catch base theme…
Paul TParticipantSorry, I found it… did not look hard enough.. first answer I selected was wrong, but this works!
.site-description { font-size: 13px; }Thanks!
Paul TParticipantPerfect! Thanks!
