No problem! If you’re not seeing it there, I really don’t know what could be going on…

It’s a weird system. If you click out of any post it takes you to a place where you can’t create a new topic. It’s really annoying. I usually have to navigate in from the beginning to get to a place where I can make a new post, or I create a shortcut to the forum I want to use.

At the top of the screen, click on “Support,” then “Access Forums,” then choose the forum you want, then go all the way to the bottom of the forum and you’ll see the text boxes you use to create a new topic. I know, it doesn’t work like any other forum system I’ve seen before, and I wouldn’t want to use it in my site, but that’s how to do it.

Scratch that. I figured out what I was doing wrong. That code works perfectly. I still haven’t tried the menu changes but that’s coming.

    Thanks, Sakin! I’ll try that.

In the meantime, I’ve tried the header image code you gave me and it’s not working. Nothing at all seems to happen…

Notice that the right-hand side of the menu (in image 2) and the very top (in image 3) have a gray box.

This look matches the organization’s print materials.

    Here are three images.

This is what the site looks like now:

This is what I’m hoping for:

And this is what I’d settle for:

I guess I might. I’ll try to work up a rough image of what I’m talking about…

Thanks Sakin! I’ll try that for the header.

As for the menu, I’ll see what I can fumble through in the code, but I’m not looking for a repeating background image, I’m looking to place images in the left and right sides of the bar. I don’t foresee it messing with the page too much, except for when it’s in mobile device mode, where the word “Menu” gets pushed to the left and the little hamburger icon is on the right.

So I guess there’s not custom CSS for inserting those images?

How about an alternative: is there a way that instead of having that margin at the very top of the screen, I could replace that with a full-width bar? Is that possible? I could put the images I want at the left and right of that bar.

Yeah, that’s what I said I was doing as a workaround. I was hoping for a better solution that didn’t require me to add a dummy category to every single post.

    But this works fine.

I don’t think I’m explaining it correctly so you’re misunderstanding me.

I said I wanted to let a user click on the menu and be taken to a page that lists nothing but the posts on my blog. The order is irrelevant and even the menu is irrelevant.

The problem is that your theme takes over the home page that normally shows the blog feed, and by default it doesn’t even show the old posts. So I’m wondering how I can have a second page that only shows posts.

My only workaround is to apply one category to every single post (like “news”) and add a category link to the menu for “news”. This seems like a weird workaround and adds a step to the creation of every new post.

One last thing. I hate to complain but while the code you gave me is great, it doesn’t also adjust the columns within the column. So basically the sidebar gets thrown to the bottom of the page.

You can see this on the following page, for example:

Ooo, I see that one of my ideas is already part of Everest! I can change the slider to match categories instead of specific posts. Great minds think alike 🙂 Haha!

This is 100% exactly what I’d love to see from the featured content area.

Thanks for the consideration. I’d love to just have it handled exactly the same way the slider is handled, where you enter post numbers for the ones you want in those three slots.

Or, have it handle the way I mentioned. I’m thinking you could tag certain posts with with a “Featured” category, and the theme will throw the three most recent posts in that category into the featured content section. I’d love to be able to handle the slider in this way too…

Sir, you are the best! That’s perfect. 990px should be fine. I’m just trying to match what people from this group have told me they’re looking for 🙂 Sometimes it’s not up to us, is it? 🙂

Sorry there is no option to populate those three featured content with your post. But you can just copy the post title and content there.

Yeah, that’s not very desirable 🙂 I would really recommend this as an option in the future. It would be great to flag a post and have it show up in one of those three images, where the most (or least) recent three posts would show up there. I understand that someone might want to put content there that is separate from their posts, but I’d like to have the option.

I did figure out the header margin stuff, thanks to your helpful responses in other people’s threads. I appreciate how responsive you are to your users. Thanks for that!

The problem with the width, for me, is that I don’t ever want my site (well, this particular site) to get to 1140px. Is there no way to limit it to a smaller size? I like that it’s responsive and that’s fantastic, but that doesn’t mean I necessarily want to have it fill the larger screens. I’d really like a way to limit the max width…

I have purchased Catch Everest Pro 🙂 I’ll upload this to my test site when I feel like starting the customization process over again 🙂

But thanks for the help so far. I love the theme. I just want to know about that width issue (from my first thread), if you wouldn’t mind.

    Thanks!

Ah, I see. Understood. I tried to find a complete list of all the things I’d get with the Pro version, but I couldn’t seem to find them. Is there somewhere I can find that?

Very sorry about that! I’ve unlocked it now.
