My renewal has expired a few months back on the Catch Responsive Theme I bought with a revision level of 3.8.1 and I’ve been working like a dog in the recent months trying to get my website ranked on Google. I’m tweaking my site as much as I can to gain as much as I can in the rankings, but still see little results. After checking my websites structure on Screaming Frog last week I’ve learned that every H1 and H2 Header are duplicates of the websites “Site Title” and “Tagline”. In my case, that’s 47 H1 duplicate and 47 H2 duplicate. I’d enclose a screen dump showing this fact, but you don’t allow one in this submission. After seeing all of these duplicates, I removed the text in both “Site Title” and “Tagline” in the Customize area, but this left all the H1 and H2 descriptions completely empty from my website! Even though every page and post I create has an H1 and H2 description at the TOP of every page and post.
What’s more, if I activate another theme into my website, I see all the correct H1 and H2 headings as written out in every page and post that I created when I evaluate the website with the changed theme on Screaming Frog. Knowing this fact now, and unaware that it existed within your theme until last week I’d like to know what fix can you offer so that my website isn’t penalized by Google for having either the 47 duplicate issue or not having any H1 and H2 when I omit the “Site Title” and “Tagline”? In either case, it’s a great big penalty with Google.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi Will,

Can you please post in your site URL. You may post the link of the screen dump after uploading the dump on your website.

    Regards,
    Tikaram

I prefer not posting my website. I did that once on another forum for another website and have been regretting it ever since because it caused a backlink that’s high ranked and seen by the world everyday.
That kind of exposure I never want again.
But to be fair, I did submit a support ticket outlining this exact problem with my order number and website URL address within that support ticket. So, since you’re in the support group, please review that ticket and address the issue with the information given.

    Thank you

    Hi Will,

In HTML5, you can have more then one H1 tag. That was issue only when you use HTML4 tags. In HTML5, H1 tag per article tag is good for SEO and we have carefully designed H1 tags with special attention on header tag and headings.
You can also check this Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIn5qJKU8VM by Google software engineer Matt Cutts, who clearly states that you can use multiple H1 but don’t over do it. Also use h1 specific to heading and header tags.
You can also check this article URL http://html5doctor.com/html5-seo-search-engine-optimisation/

As stated by sakin, the theme has been updated and the issue has been resolved. I suggest you to use Yoast SEO Plugin for improving the SEO of your site and make sure that you get that green bullet in Yoast SEO. Next you will need to create a sitemap and submit it to search engines which can help boost your SEO score.
Let me know if you have further issues after theme update.

    Regards,
    Tikaram
