    Hi,

I have uploaded some images to my site http://www.infinitylashes.co.uk/ but when I was clicking on them the urls were quite nasty- long and with lots of numbers and the pictures’ names were not corresponding with the images (I named them randomly before uploading them to catch everest media library) eg. http://www.infinitylashes.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/cazual-e1389302561355.gif
I was trying to change the name of the pictures in the media library and manipulate with permalinks but when I clicked on the picture it said that page can’t be found :/ Now I don’t have any urls for my pictures.
I’d appreciate if someone could explain me how to make the changes so the url is straightforward and looks nice.
    Thank you.

@natoulie: You can login to your WordPress Dashboard and then go to “Media => Library”. Then click on edit for which image you want to edit it. You can just change the media Title, Caption and Alternative Text. You cannot change the media URL from here. To change the media file name such as cazual-e1389302561355.gif to cazual.gif, you need to edit in you computer and upload it.

    Hi Sakin,

Thanks a lot for your help. I hope you don’t mind if I ask you one more thing, it’s regarding theme update. I’ve been using my website for quite a while now but I have never updated wordpress/theme/plugins because I was worried to loose my content. I did some research and I know I have to create a child theme, I’ve seen a few videos which are supposed to explain how to do this but still I’m stuck and don’t know where to start. If you could suggest for me a video/tutorial that is created for complete novice I would be really grateful.
    Thank you.

@natoulie: Updating plugin and WordPress core is completely fine and nothing to do with the content. Also updating theme is fine if you have customize the theme in right way. This means, if you have customize the theme using Theme Options, Custom CSS and Settings then updating theme will not change anything. But if you have customized and core theme files such as style.css, functions.php, index.php and so on. Then updating the theme will revert these files into original core theme files and you will loose your edits. So, if you want to edit functions and files then you need to build child theme and edit it.

So, when I look at your site. I don’t think you have edited any core theme file. In this case you can just update it. Sorry we don’t have videos, you can search in Youtube.com there are lots.
