SakinKeymaster@Sally Starlett:
Answer to your First Question
In Catch Evolution Free theme, you only have option to use Featured Post Slider which is there to highlight your post.
1. first you need to create the post and add featured image in your post. This featured image will be used for your slider.
2. Then you need to add in your post ID in “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider”Answer to your Second Question
This feature in not there in our theme. For this you might find plugin in wordpress.org/plugins . Why don’t you just create a page/post where you describe the product and add “Buy Now” button which links to the main product page.December 29, 2013 at 12:25 am #18696In reply to: Overriding default templates in a child theme
SakinKeymaster@fastfun.jp:
1. For Slider, you can just go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Slider”. Then in “Enable Slider”, you can select “Homepage / Frontpage”. This will make your slider to appear only on homepage.2. To you can disable all the Homepage Sidebar from “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Options => Homepage Sidebar Options”.
3. Then you can add static front page with the content you want. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Options => Homepage/Frontpage Settings”. Then select “Enable Latest Posts or Page” and then add static page from “Settings => Readings => Front page displays” and select the page A static page (select below).
3. Then you can create child theme and then create function.php and add your custom function there and hook in with action hook.

saramidMemberI do not have ” Featured Post Slider” in my “theme Options” why? And how do I remove the slider without it?
December 28, 2013 at 1:54 pm #18682In reply to: Overriding default templates in a child theme
fastfun.jpMemberThat’s great Sakin.
I wanted to have the slider on the homepage only, full width. Under that I then want a template with a sidebar on the right. I wanted a grid of the featured services displayed by thumbnail. Similar to the 4 car images in the mustang demo under the slider but with 3 columns x N rows of images and a sidebar on the right.
If you have a recommendation for achieving this to benefit from inheritance from the parent / updates in the future, please let me know.
Thanks again!

SakinKeymaster@Sith56: You can check out the theme instruction page for details http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-everest/.
1. As you are using Catch Everest Free theme you have option just to just “Featured Post Slider”.
For this, you need to create the post and add featured image in your post.
Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider” in your WordPress Dashboard
To add Posts in the slider, click on Slider Options and simply insert the ID numbers for posts in the boxes, one post ID number in each box
To change the slider effects and timing, go to Slider Effect Options which is just below Slider Options
Click on Save button2. If you are talking about the 3 featured homepage content. Then you can change that image, title, link from “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage Featured Content Options” in your WordPress Dashboard.
December 23, 2013 at 6:21 pm #18572In reply to: Size featured slider
SakinKeymaster@Joaozinho: If you are concerned about the text a lot then please use Featured Image Slider where you can add content as per your need. No need to get it auto. You can add it manually all text, image and links as per your need.
December 21, 2013 at 9:28 am #18499In reply to: Simple Catch slider text problem
SakinKeymaster@davidgoorevitch: For image ration see our theme instruction page http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-box/. It’s clearly mentioned image size as 644px width and 320px height for Featured Post slider. So, you need to upload the image of at least that size. If you upload image below that size then it will publish your original image. But if you upload image exact that size or above then it will crop to exact dimension and fit in your slider.
December 20, 2013 at 11:45 pm #18479In reply to: Size featured slider
SakinKeymaster@Joaozinho: Excerpt is the default function of WordPress and has nothing to do with theme version. Yes, excerpt box allows you to add your custom text otherwise you need to use Featured Image Slider.
December 20, 2013 at 11:16 pm #18476In reply to: Simple Catch slider text problem
SakinKeymaster@davidgoorevitch: The Featured Post Slider take the Featured Image, Title and Excerpt Content from the post. So you need to manage this accordingly or you can add CSS to make the fixed height for desktop view. Send me your site URL and then I will check in.
December 20, 2013 at 10:20 pm #18472In reply to: Simple Catch slider text problem
davidgoorevitchMemberHi Sakin, I seem to have no control over the aspect ratio of my my featured post images. So the bottom of the slider section moves up and down it fades from post to post. I need it to stay static so people can read my message below it. Have you encountered this problem and can it be fixed? Can it be fixed in the pro theme?
Thanks
DavidDecember 20, 2013 at 4:10 pm #18467In reply to: Size featured slider
JoaozinhoMemberWhen I click on screen options, I don’t see excerpt in the list of options. Is that only visible in the updated version of the theme? Is that the only way to modify the slider text? I understood with the featured slider you can modify the text yourself as well.
December 20, 2013 at 12:24 pm #18463In reply to: Fixed Featured Image Dimensions
SakinKeymaster@shruti: If you use Featured Image Slider then you can add image of any size. If you are using Normal width then it width is 754px and for full width it’s 1190px width.
But if you use Featured Post Slider or Featured Page Slider or Featured Category slider then it will take the exact image size of width 754px and height 400px.
Which version of Catch Evolution Pro sure you using it. Make sure you are using the latest version 1.5. Then you will see the Featured Slider layout in “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Slider => Slider Options”. There you will see the option “Slider Layout”
December 17, 2013 at 10:37 am #18381In reply to: Getting rid of slider
SakinKeymaster@inventorgeorge: You can just go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider => Slider Options” and then in “Enable Sidebar”, you can just select “Disable”.

December 16, 2013 at 8:53 pm #18362In reply to: Slider problems&number of posts displayed
SakinKeymaster@caramele: The dimension for the slider image in 976 and 313. So, you don’t need to change anything. You just need to upload the image of greater then that. All the small image below that dimension will show it as it is with center.
They will be in the order of Published date. Note, if you just have 3 posts then it will show 3 posts. Remember, if you have “Exclude Slider post from Home page posts” from “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Slider”. Then the post in the slider will not be display. So, if you have 7 total post with 4 slider posts, then the remaining 3 will be shown.
Which one is Categorized. Also remember, if you have same post in 2 categories then it will show it.

carameleMemberHi Sakin. Thanks for the answer. I forgot to change the featured image on the posts. Now everything’s almost fine. Can I change slider pic size? I tried to change dimensions in css (976 and 313), but it didn’t work out. Can I at least influence the cropping?
About the blog posts – I changed it to 5 posts, but I still see only 3. Not to mention that they’re not in a chronological order.
3rd question: yes, I did that. Excluded Uncategorized from home page and still see it.
December 16, 2013 at 11:16 am #18346In reply to: Slider problems&number of posts displayed
SakinKeymasterAbout your Featured Post Slider images, you need to assign Featured Image of size minimum 976px width and 313px height. See theme instruction page http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/simple-catch. After you add that images, you can change order in Slider and it will show you changed images.
To control then number of recent post, you can go to “Settings => Readings” and change the number in Blog pages show at most.
But I don’t understand your 3rd request. You can select the categories that you want to display from “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage / Frontpage Category Settings”
December 15, 2013 at 5:13 pm #18306In reply to: Featured Images Do Not Crop (Thumbnails/Slider)
SakinKeymaster@positronic: I can see that all your features post has been re-sized to 210px height and 210px width as needed in all latest posts. That is nice.
The only problem, I see is the Featured Post Slider. It is talking old image sizes. If you have already Regenerate Thumbnails using the Regenerate Thumbnail plugin then you need to clear the auto cache of Slider. For that you can just change any value in your Theme Options panel and then you can change it back.

blackkeysMemberThank you so much for that. Its definitely sorted it a bit. But there is still some white space below the header logo. How can I remove that? Leaving only 5px like at the top.
I think it may be to do with the following lines in my code
@media screen and (max-width: 768px) {
.header-sidebar { padding-top: 0; }
}All my custom code is below:
#header-right { clear: both; }
#header-right { padding-top: 0; }.lang-item {
display: inline;
}p { line-height: 1.425; margin-bottom: 1em; }
#slider-nav { display: none; }
#site-logo, hgroup.with-logo { padding-top: 0; }
#hgroup-wrap { padding-top: 5px; }
#hgroup-wrap { padding-bottom: 0px; }
#hgroup-wrap { padding-left: 150px; }
#hgroup-wrap { padding-right: 10px; }
@media screen and (min-width: 961px) {
#hgroup-wrap { padding-top: 5px; }
#hgroup-wrap { padding-bottom: 0px; }
#hgroup-wrap { padding-left: 150px; }
#hgroup-wrap { padding-right: 10px; }
}#hgroup-wrap a:hover img,
.featured-image a:hover img,
.entry-content a:hover img,
.comment-content a:hover img,
.widget a:hover img,
a:hover img.header-image,
.author-avatar a:hover img,
a:hover img.wp-post-image {
opacity: 1;
}#hgroup-wrap .lang-item img { display: inline; }
@media screen and (max-width: 768px) {
.header-sidebar { padding-top: 0; }
