Thanks a lot, that worked!!!

MichaelaParticipantHi Tikaram,
Thanks a lot for the hint with the slider image size. I had chosen a size too small, and now that I uploaded a bigger sized picture it all works fine. However, when I tried to add the code you quoted above, I did not see any effect on my website, i.e. there was not more space underneath the featured slider. Any other idea how to achieve this?
Thanks a lot,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Tikaram,
It’s a little weird that the size of the fourth picture is smaller than the other three. Look at the page archive from April that you sent me: https://web.archive.org/web/20170407220234/http:/travelintense.com
It shows that all images are the same size. How can this have changed? It’s going to take a lot of time to reproduce the last one again, so I’d like to be sure this doesn’t happen again.
Also, as you can see from that archived page, there used to be some white space between the slider and the four images underneath. It’s gone now and I don’t know how to restore it. Can you help?
Oh, and I just published a new post and included it in the slider, and it creates another issue: the picture is taller than the other ones. How can that happen – I never had that before. I thought they always get cut off in the top and the bottom if they don’t fit in the slider container?
Thanks a lot,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Tikaram,
I just checked the two links you gave me and yes, both sliders in June and April showed a fullwidth slider with space underneath. I’m a little confused to read that you didn’t see it, but it doesn’t matter now, as your code works fine. Thanks a lot!
There is only one thing still broken: the last of the four small pictures under the slider is not the size of the other three ones to the left. If you check the April and June archive pages, you’ll see they are all supposed to be the same size. How can I achieve this?
Thanks a lot,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Tikaram,
I tried your solution, but it’s not really a solution for what I’m looking for.
For years I’ve had a fullwidth website, and I want to keep it that way. I never had a problem with the slider. It was always fullwidth as well, and there was always some space between the slider and the four images underneath it. I’d like to have it that way again. There must have been some coding in the background that removed this setting, and I’m sure there is a way how to get my design back again.
Please help me with a solution how to achieve this.
Oh, and by the way: the previous solution you offered does not restore the space that was between the slider and the four images underneath it.
Thanks a lot,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Tikaram,
I did disable all plugins, and also removed any code from my header and footer that was related to the fancy box. I found out that when I disable the Boxzilla plugin, the slider at least starts to automatically move again. But still, there is some black space to its left and right that was never there before. Any idea how to get rid of this?
Also, I realized that the fourth picture underneath the slider is a smaller size than the three to its left. Wasn’t like this in the past either. How can I make them all the same size again?
Thanks a lot,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Mahesh,
Perfect. I just used # instead of a url in the link, and that put that one thumbnail in question back in line with the others.
The code to remove the border worked as well.
Thanks a lot!MichaelaParticipantThat worked, great, thanks a lot Mahesh!
MichaelaParticipantHi Mahesh,
last time you gave me a code that lets me show the page navigation at the bottom of my travel blog page only (see conversation above). Now I realized I’d also need this page navigation to show on the bottom of the following pages:
– category archive
– monthly archive
– search (e.g. http://travelintense.com/?s=french+polynesia&submit=Search)
Which code do I need for this?
Cheers,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Pratik,
Weird… so could you please tell me how to get rid of the small spacing between my menu items?
Cheers!MichaelaParticipantThanks a lot Mahesh!
MichaelaParticipantAwesome, thanks a lot, it’s working
MichaelaParticipantHi Mahesh,
I figured it out. A few months ago, I asked you how I could remove the categories, tags, leave reply, previous and next post links underneath the posts. You gave me the following code:footer.entry-meta, nav#nav-below { display: none; }
This is the link to our conversation: https://catchthemes.com/support-forum/topic/remove-categories-tags-leave-reply-previous-and-next-post-underneath-post/
I’m using this code, and it did the job to remove all those unwanted clutter at the bottom of the posts, but I didn’t realize until now, that this also means the page navigation disappears. Could you please tell me how to add an exception for this one page (http://travelintense.com/travel-blog/) or what else would you suggest?
Thanks a lot,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Mahesh,
I had already tried deactivating all other plugins, but that didn’t solve the issue.
I then followed your advice and activated the parent theme and lo and behold: the page navigation was there. So now I know that there must be something wrong with my css stylesheet, but I can’t figure out what…
Cheers,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Mahesh,
Shouldn’t it be very easy to just replace the old-school looking icons which are part of your theme options? They really don’t do your great themes and design justice. It’s a great feature that you have them included in your theme options and makes you stand out from the crowd of theme designers, but the style needs an update! Would be great if you could do that.
Thanks a lot,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Mahesh,
Thanks a lot for letting me know that there is a plugin I can use. Unfortunately, I don’t really think it’s what I’m looking for. Most of the tools it contains are either already covered in your “theme options”, or through some other plugins most people have installed. For example, your social widgets look the same like the Jetpack ones, but would add additional load time. A reason for me not to install it.
What I originally asked for was having a nice, sleek version of the links I can update under Appearance-> Theme Options -> Social Links. I like the fact that I can choose more here than on Jetpack (e.g., contact, rss, etc.), but the style is super outdated, gray and blurry when you are using a high resolution screen.
Could you please let me know if you intend to replace the icons in that section, as this would be everthing I (and probably many other people) need?
Thanks a lot,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantHi Mahesh,
any news on the update of the social media icons? You mentioned in February that the release is going to happen soon, but I still can see the old, blurry icons on my page.
Cheers,
MichaelaMichaelaParticipantThanks Mahesh. Though I have two questions to fully understand the code:
1. How do you know whether you have to use gallery-2 or -4? I realized that for every page where I want to make this change I have to use gallery-2 when there is only one WP gallery included, but why? Why is it no simply “gallery” or “gallery-1” when there is only one gallery?
2. Because I have more pages where I want to show the thumbnails without a border than pages where I want to show them with borders, is there a general code that would first remove the thumbnail border from all pages, and then add it to selected ones (page 26)?
E.g..post.page #gallery img {border: none;} .post-26.page #gallery-2 img, .post-26.page #gallery-4 img {border: 1pt solid #3c3c3c;}
Thanks!
MichaelaParticipantOkay. Then please just let me know how I remove the thin gray border around the images that appear in the sidebar in this widget, and also how to remove the border from all the images that show up under http://www.travelintense.com/publications and http://www.travelintense.com/travel-equipment. Thanks a lot!
