I feel I need to ask you this one last time as I have now spent many hours trying to find any glitches with my server. I can see from the page source that when the error occurs it is trying to source https:// but this is only the featured content images and only the header image. It doesn’t do it for any other image or link on the site. And, as I keep saying, as soon as I open the Customizer the problem goes away and the images start loading again from source http://. This works for several days – and then suddenly returns they start loading from https:// until I open The customizer. Please see my screen shots: http://www.gmgc.com.au/screenshots/with-the-https-error.jpg AND http://www.gmgc.com.au/screenshots/with-http-after-opening-the-customizer.jpg
Thank you one last time. You guys have been terrific helping me with this theme and I really don’t want to have to purchase a SSL certificate and setup a https site just to make this work.
Craig
CraigParticipantHi Pratik
Unfortunately I do not believe the issue is with my server. Because as soon as I opened the Customizer everything worked fine again. And you can now see that the images and links are now coming from http:// … BUT I HAVEN’T DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENT! AS IT ONLY AFFECTS the front page header image and featured content, is it possible that your code for these is doing something that sometimes changes the links to https:// ? If not, can you tell me why simply opening the Customizer would make everything work perfectly again?? http://www.gmgc.com.au
CraigParticipanthttps:// does NOT work. I don’t have secure sockets set up for this site. If I click on https://gmgc.com.au I just get an error.
CraigParticipantHi Pratik – OK it is doing it again right now! To my knowledge this is the first time it has happened since my last post to you. My client keeps letting me know when it happens – very embarrassing 🙁 I have avoided going in to wordpress and opening the customizer because I know from each previous time it has occurred that this will likely fix it. Can you please help? http://www.gmgc.com.au
CraigParticipantI know it is loading fine at present, because as I said above, when the problem occurs all I have to do is open the customizer and the problem instantly goes away, without me doing anything or saving anything. This is what I did last night when I sent through the screenshot http://gmgc.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/2017-02-05_19-39-50.jpg This has happened on and off over the last few weeks and appears to be completely unpredictable. It is not cache related – I would have picked that up. Note that it is only with the images for the featured content and the header image.
CraigParticipantSorry Pratik – the site is http://www.gmgc.com.au I have the very latest version of WP and recently Clean Business 2.1 (I have gone from 1.2, to 2.0 to 2.1 since I purchased the theme last November.
CraigParticipantHi again Mahesh – here’s the link to a screengrab of the problem:
http://gmgc.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/2017-02-05_19-39-50.jpgJust as I said, all I had to do to make the problem go away was literally open up the customizer, I didn’t even have to change anything or click publish or anything.
CraigParticipantThis is awesome. Everything works exactly as I need now. Thank you for the tremendous support. 🙂
CraigParticipantOk, so I have added this CSS and everything works perfectly except that on pages other than the front page at screen widths above 1024px the masthead is still black until you start scrolling (when it correctly changes to the translucent blue). So there must be one last bit of CSS. 🙂
You have been so helpful Mahesh, I really hope you can give me this last little bit.
CraigParticipantHI Mahesh
I guess what I am really asking is how do you change the colour (and/or transparency) of the main header under the menu. I want everything to behave exactly as I have it now, but with the base colour of the header to be rgb(0,103,172) instead of the default black.
When I add background-color to things like .site-header or .site-header.fixed, it works but then the front page always has a solid color masthead instead of the initial transparent that is part of your theme. Does this make sense?
Sincerely
CraigCraigParticipantMahesh you have been fantastic – thank you. I have one last request. The final thing I need to get right is the colour of the masthead. I need it to be transparent on the front page, then rgba(0,103,172,0.9) when you start scrolling. Then on all other pages: when showing full menu it needs to be solid rgb(0,103,172) and then transparent rgba(0,103,172,0.9) when you scroll. And on any pages less than 1024px it just needs to be solid rgb(0,103,172) all the time. If you could help me this one last time it would be terrific – thank you.
CraigParticipantThank you Mahesh. This worked. I have actually set things now so that the front page header image drops down on all sizes <1024px. This works well with our logo design. However now I have problem with everything dropping down on these smaller screen sizes on other pages in the site. Everything is fine until the ‘unset’ kicks in on these pages. Is there a way to fix this using CSS or can you recommend another way? Example: http://gmgc.com.au/our-approach/ viewed at less than 1024px.
