For the second time since purchasing the pro version of High Responsive, there has been an update to the theme. I download the update, upload it to my WordPress site and it installs and WIPES OUT MY WEBSITE!
This is completely unacceptable!

Why does this happen?
Why does the free version update directly through WordPress and the Pro version not? But more importantly, why does it replace my work with the default theme? This has undone weeks of my work.

@ionadmin : We keep on updating our themes on regular basis because we need to keep our themes secured and fix the bugs present in the theme.
You cannot update the Pro theme directly by just clicking the update button as in the free theme.
You’ll need to first download the theme from https://catchthemes.com/my-account/ page. Then install Catch Web Tools plugin and activate Catch Updater Module.

Updating the theme will not replace your work. The changes that you have made through the customizer will not be lost after theme update. You should not edit the parent theme directly if you want to make any customizations on your site, you will need to create a child theme and make your customizations within the child theme. I did follow the process you describe above to update the theme, but did not realize that I would have to create a child theme in order not to lose my work.

Will the child theme be updated and secure?

@ionadmin : The child theme will not be updated but it will be secured. You will need to update the parent theme but your changes made through child theme will not be lost. Follow this link to know more about child theme.
