I made a graphic to show you what I am talking about as it is difficult to explain.

    Kathmandu Preview vs Reality

Originally, I was drawn to the slider and color of this theme as it matches the rest of the existing ASP website I have been upgrading. That being said, it seems I am having weird issues with it displaying properly. In the graphic above, you can ssee that the “Popular Places” is not in the Live Preview, but online it is. The only reason you are seeing houses in the image on the right is that I manually replaced the graphics that were pointed to that were hard coded into the theme. But as you can see I am unable to remove the descriptions and change them to our content. I even removed the whole slider feature, which seems to not work for me (not pictured) as it previews fine but the online it puts the content in the header bar which doesn’t fit obviously and just doesn’t work for me.

We are considering going Premium as well but wanted to know the benefits of doing so other than automated “White Label” options. Are there any other features?

THANKS IN ADVANCE! We love this design, just man, need some help here, thanks!

@perryhouseplans: Thanks for using Catch Kathmandu Free theme and looks like you haven’t check out out theme instructions page at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-kathmandu

That popular places section is called “Featured Content” and you can replace that demo featured content with “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage Featured Content Options” and then add in your title, content and images as per your need.

You shouldn’t edit the theme core file directly, you need to edit using Theme Options and if you want more to edit then you need to build child theme and edit it.

To know about Pro version, you can check out pro version theme instructions page at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-kathmandu-pro/

Let me know if you have any other issues.

Thanks, that does help a bit, but the real issue I am having is that if I want the slider, I have to manually edit that demo content. Because when I do it manually, it puts it into the header for some unknown reason like this:

@perryhouseplans: No for slider as well, you shouldn’t edit the code directly. You need to go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Slider” and then select Post Slider and then you need to add in Post ID. Make sure that post has featured image. Yes, I know, I have set that up, and used the plugin to get the post IDs. Did you click on the pic link at the bottom of my last post? See that circle in red I drew onto the screenshot? That is where the slider ends up going instead for some reason.

It goes into the header instead of the middle of the page for some reason. You can probably also see where it’s inserting additional spaces that are not in the featured posts by displaying the code &amp, amp, amp, amp, amp, amp, amp, amp, amp, amp in the post.

Perhaps there is something wrong with the posts that are being feature perhaps? Perhaps they need to be a different style than the default one, such as gallery or something? Or maybe the graphics featured aren’t the size it is wanting to get it to display properly? Thanks again for your help.

UPDATE – I just noticed I had not set a featured image, and had thought that I had. It seems to have put the pic into the right place, but I am still having a little ghosting of the text with the amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp issue I described above.

But at least the slider is working. Is there something I am doing that is causing that “amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;” to show up in the posts? It is only visible when not selected, but if you hover over the article title it fills in the transparent blue and the “amp;amp;amp;amp;” thing disappears.

Here is a screenshot of the amp: ghosting I was talking about:

Just noticed something that might help with this. The area that has the amp:amp I was referencing before, if I highlight that area, I noticed that it also contains:

“Continue Reading” and then inserts the amps after that. It cuts off the text and I can’t seem to format it by breaking that part with formatting, such as separating the first sentence from a paragraph to make sure it fits. It’s almost like the box is forcing its self into a size, and it could use the rest of the sentence to do that, but instead cuts off with the Continue Reading and puts 1/2 the extra space as that ghosted formatting amp text. Here is a copy and paste of what I highlighted:

    Thanks again!

@perryhouseplans: Can you go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Excerpt / More Tag Settings” and change “More Tag Text”.

Thanks Sakin, that did the trick, thanks for the excellent help. Maybe one last thing, I’m sure I just missed it and will look for it after I posted this, but where is the setting to select the color of the part you helped me fix? I changed it to “Continued …” but it’s sort of faded out and I want to change it to a different color.

Thanks and pretty sure this is the last question on this subject haha, thanks again.

@perryhouseplans: You can change the color code in the following css as per your need and then add it in “Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Custom CSS” box:
    #main-slider a { color: #21759b; }
