When I try to display the categories I get the following error message:

Hello, I found the same error in the forum in May 31, 2018:

The Answer was: “There seems to be an issue with this. The issue will be resolved in the next theme update. I’ll let you when the theme update is released.”

When will the next theme released?

I would advise you to write to the admin in person. As for me, this is the best solution to the problem. Or go to the information for new users. I had the same problem on the site , but the administrator helped me.
