In reply to: Featured Post Slider dissappeared
HuserMemberHi! Yet again the featured slider has disappeared. (www.migrantcity.info). Last time I was told it was in conflict with WPML. Is it possible to resort this for the future?
Best regards,
HP
SakinKeymaster@TanjaCrouch: I just check in your site and the slider is working fine. But I know what are you trying to say.
When I check in the the site, your site has a huge image in Featured Homepage Content. For example http://www.tanjacrouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Tanja-NF-AW-810.jpg and http://www.tanjacrouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/DC-18-16.jpg
The concept of the slider in Catch Everest is that, it only loads the sliding script only after all the content has been loaded in the site. So, if you wait for all the images and content to load then you will see the slider working fine.
So, to avoid loading issue, just decrease the size of the images.

SakinKeymaster@cbtoolkit: Just add the title and it will replace the image hove text. Then you can hide the title by adding the following CSS in “Custom CSS” box in Theme Options panel.
#slider-wrap .featured-text { display: none; }

SakinKeymaster@alexrams: For easy solution, just upgrade to Simple Catch Pro Version and then you have Featured Image Slider, which will let you choose any image and any link or without link, title and content are all optional.

alihoneycuttMemberMy featured post slider never came up, Sakin. I attempted to post a picture using the ‘post’ number and just the pegboard showed up, but no pic. Please help. I’ll be happy to send you my url via private means. Thanks much.

ConayMemberI want to add, for example, this post: http://newsite.conay.co.uk/?p=142
I’ve assumed that the Post ID is 142 (I hope so, because I can’t find any other number) and added it to the featured post slider – yet it fails to work.

SakinKeymaster@Conay: I think you are confused about Post ID. I guess that you are adding in the Page ID instead of Post ID. Page ID will not work in Featured Post Slider. If you want Featured Page Slider or Feature Image Slider then you need to upgrade to Pro version.
For your easy solution, follow the steps below:
1. Just create new Post through “Posts => Add New” from your WordPress Dashboard.
2. Then fill in the Post Title, Content and don’t forget to add in the featured image. See this http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image
3. Remember this post ID and go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider”. Add in the post id.If you follow this step then you will get your Featured Post running fine.

SakinKeymaster@eilpres: I just talked with my sales team and they have created account for your. Check your email and download it.
By the way then I check in your site http://206.130.117.218/~martinva/ . I found that you have not follow the step of adding featured image in the post. If if you are confused about how to add featured image see this http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image

eilpresMemberI am currently using Catch Everest and it’s the same for me. I have the correct id but not working. Somewhat distorted in Google Chrome but not showing up at all in Safari. I just purchased Catch Everest Pro but for some reason cannot download and install and waiting to hear back from support.

ConayMemberI checked the post ID’s and they are both correct.

SakinKeymaster@Conay: I don’t see you have added correct ID of the post. Check the post ID first and then just enter the right ID.

March 29, 2013 at 1:43 am #6104In reply to: Featured posts on page other than homepage
SakinKeymaster@LandUnknown: Then it fine. Just create the slider with the featured posts and then add all other post in the category and show the category in the menu through Custom menu. “Appearance => Menu”
March 29, 2013 at 1:40 am #6103In reply to: Featured posts on page other than homepage
LandUnknownMemberI use the slider to feature my top 3 posts on the homepage, but my philosophy is that any more than 3-5 posts are too much to “feature” there. So, I’d like to have all my other posts appear on another page, where visitors may peruse a more exhaustive list if they would like.
March 29, 2013 at 12:11 am #6095In reply to: Slider link
SakinKeymaster@HHDesign: That is just a demo that why there is no link. In Catch Everest free theme there is only Featured Post Slider which is created to highlight your posts in Slider. So, it will link to the post.
But if you just want a image slider without any link then upgrade to Catch Everest Pro http://catchthemes.com/themes/catch-everest-pro there you have option to choose Featured Image Slider instead of Featured Post Slider.

SakinKeymaster@Casadima: See this forum thread for how to add featured post slider http://catchthemes.com/support-forum/topic/featured-post-slider-not-showing-up/
For controlling number of posts in slide. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider => Add Slider Options” and type in the Number of Slides.
