Hi
How do I hide archives and search?I would expect it to be disabling the widgets, but if I place them in inactive nothings changes (and I can place as many copies there as I’d like – is that right, are there not supposed to be only one copy of each widget?).
I also figured it might be because I’d disabled the part of the screen where the archives and search widgets are supposed to be located (I did that with the mainmenu), but that doesn’t seem to be the case either.
I’m lost
Best regards
Poul

If you are talking about the default widget “Search” and “Archives” in your Sidebar. If so then this will display when you have empty widget in your “Main Sidebar” are “Appearance => Widgets”. If you want to remove the sidebar totally, then you can change the site layout from “Appearance => Theme Options => Layout Options”.

October 13, 2014 at 7:22 pm #45723PoulKristensenMemberHi
Sorry for my late response, I was away for a few days. Here is a picture showing a page with the problem:
I want to get rid of the Archives in the lower right corner, but I cannot seem to see how to do it. I can remove both sidebars, but then my text is placed in the middle of the page.
I tried everything you suggested but it didn’t seem to make any difference. It seems to me that when I choose to place the Archives-widget in the inactive, the theme kinda falls back on a default setting that does show the widget.Any suggestions?
Best regards
Poul

It will not be blank. But you can add any other widget to your sidebar. You can also add empty text widget to your sidebar. This is will replace the default widget.

Sorry about that, I must have misunderstood. But I did try to use the empty text and I still get an empty box.
The search is gone and so are the header inside the frame, but the frame in itself is still there.
But I will find a way to work around it. Just thought you might like to know.Med venlig hilsen/Best regards
Poul KristensenOctober 15, 2014 at 9:16 pm #45825SakinKeymaster@PoulKristensen: I don’t get it what you mean. If you just want to hide the archive and keep the search. Then just drag and drop Search widget in your sidebar.
October 15, 2014 at 10:07 pm #45828PoulKristensenMemberHi
If I do that, I loose the mainmenu. But I really don’t want any of either archives nor search, but if I understand you correctly it’s either one or the other – not neither?
But I am still learning here, so I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually. Thanks
Poul
