    Hi Sakin,
    I would like to organize the blog on my site – sorrows.wpengine.com – so that it appears as two distinct items:
    *a “This Week’s News” blog (this blog would only have one ‘category’ called “This Week’s News.” All other categories/archives/posts would be hidden.)
    *the ‘main’ blog (All blog categories/archives/posts would display EXCEPT those related to “This Week’s News.”)

    I’ve been doing some research, but have run into a wall. So, I have a few questions that I’m hoping you might be able to help me with…

    1. Is there a way to hide the “This Week’s News” category/archives/posts from the main blog? And, vice versa?

    2. I tried using the Featured Post widget within my “Footer Area One” to display the latest “This Week’s News” post, but the post’s formatting appears to be lost. (This post contains a series of links, but those links appear within this widget as plain text. See my website for how it looks.)

    Do you have any recommendations on how to proceed?

    Thank you very much.

    @fmck718:
    1. For your blog page. Just create a page call “Blog” or any as you required. Then set this blog as “Posts page” from “Settings => Reading”. Now, this page will have all the posts. Then to remove the post from the category “This Week’s News”. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage / Frontpage Settings”. Then in Homepage posts categories, select all the categories except “This Week’s News”. Then it will be fine.

    2. I don’t get it what you are trying to do it. That Featured Post widget is to highlight only one Post. That’s it. To show there recent post, you need to use Recent Post Widgets. If you are trying to show recent posts from particular category, then you need to search for plugin which does this. Search for plugin at http://wordpress.org/plugins

    Thanks for the quick response. I will try out #1 later today.

    As for #2, my concern is that the Featured Post widget isn’t displaying the post accurately. When viewing the actual post, there are 6 links. However, when that same post is displayed via the Featured Post Widget, all the links disappear, and so do the line breaks. So, the post looks like a bunch of words strung together. Please view my homepage – sorrows.wpengine.com – to see what I mean. Any ideas on how to fix?

    @fmck718:
    #2: Featured Post Widget only display the Featured Image and the excerpt text. It will not display the full content. So, if you want to display the full content of the post. Then you might need to add in Plugin which does this.

    Thanks for the tips, Sakin. I seem to be getting closer, but there are a few things that still aren’t displaying as intended.

    1. I followed your instructions for hiding “This Week’s News”, but now my “Optional Sidebar One” widgets have stopped displaying on the (new) main Blog page. Can you help me get them back?

    2. I have the Categories widget set to display on all interior ‘pages’. Is there a way to hide “This Week’s News” from displaying within the Categories widget?

    Much appreciated.

    @fmck718: I am not sure what you mean in 1. But for 2, sorry there is not option to do that. You might need to search for category plugin.

    Re: #1 – my original ‘main’ blog page was http://sorrows.wpengine.com/latest-posts/. In the sidebar, I have Archives and Categories displaying.

    However, in my new ‘main’ blog page (http://sorrows.wpengine.com/school-blog/), the Facebook Likes plugin is there instead. I would prefer to have Archives and Categories display on this page, but I can’t figure out how to do it. Can you help?

    Re: #2 – thanks for the tip. I’ll look into that.

    @fmck718: I don’t see your school blog.
