    Is this a bug or can I not find the setting? Is it really no way to make the green button on the start page NOT to open in a new window?

    @truewp: It’s not a bug. You haven’t look at the options. Just go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Promotion Headline Options” and then un-check “Target. Open Link in New Window?” and save changes.

    I found it now, thank you. Note that in “Customize” this option does not exist.
