Firstly, a small issue, when I use Insert Read More tag from the kitchen sink when editing posts – the Excerpt / More tag text & link doesn’t appear in the truncated post in blog rolls. It appears fine otherwise. I want a clean break in the truncation, hence using the Insert Read More tag. For the moment I’m living without the link to more.
Secondly, also minor, the Customise/Social Links/Predefined Social Icons list is borked – the first title is Twitter – and whatever I enter in the box underneath is gets attached to a FB icon. There’s nowhere to enter a twitter link that will link to a twitter icon. Since the Theme Options/Social Links lists everything correctly this isn’t a problem and I’ve entered the data there and it works fine. But thought ye’d like to know.
There is something funny going on with how the free Adventurous theme cleans up and/or logs things after setting changes. I’m wondering if something has got corrupted on my site since no-one else seems to have posted about this.
The particular problem I’m having now, that I really want fixed, is that when I share the main page to FB it shows a picture I’ve deleted (that was used as a header when trying out another theme) and the old text including ‘Just another WordPress site’. I’ve tried everything – reinstalling other themes I tried and making sure their meta data is right; clearing my Chrome cache; deleting the image that appears on the share. All other pages share perfectly, it’s just the home page. I’ve tried setting the home page to a static page and that doesn’t help. I’m using Yeost SEO, and tried updating the social share meta data. No good.
Am bamboozled. And would really like help to fix this.
This has been complicated by the fact that when I update some settings they’re not always reflected immediately – sometimes I have to close and open Chrome to see the changes, sometimes I have to reboot, sometimes they just won’t show. This mainly happened with changing the static home page (and the Featured Content). There’s three places I can do that – Settings/Reading; Appearance/Customise/Static Front Page; Appearance/Theme Options. When I change and save one of the three it’s not always reflected in the others when I go back to them. When I change to static front page using Settings/Reading it sometimes removes the Posts & Home page selections. Driving me nuts. Finally managed to get it to work and not touching it again.
Also, when I had a gallery type post appear on the blog roll it showed only one large image. I went back and played with the gallery, including deleting that particular image – and it still appeared on the front page on it’s own in the gallery post. The fix was to delete the post and start again with a new post.
Other themes show none of these problems except the sharing of the home page on FB.
As with previous post yesterday:
The webpages in question are currently under construction (nearly finished) and can be found at http://greystoneskittyhostel.com/
I am using the free version of the theme and WordPress 4.3. The only active plugins I currently have are Akismet, Yeost SEO, Regenerate Thumbnails and Jetpack. The site is hosted, rather than the free .wordpress.com version. I’m setting it up for a fellow animal welfare organisation. I’ve a coding background years ago – these days I’m an informed amateur using WordPress on a need-to-know basis.
I should probably also mention that a minimal site was set up by someone else prior to my working on it. I’m working thru WordPress and don’t currently have access to the host site. Though I should be able to soon.
And there’s the problem mentioned in yesterdays bug log:
1) When I add text to a ‘Content’ box in the Customise / Featured Content section I get the following error repeated several times at the top of the homepage preview:
Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, function ‘wp_kses_post;’ not found or invalid function name in /home2/louise/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 213As I fixed the Featured Content using Appearance/Theme Options rather than Appearance/Customise this isn’t a problem (though I had to reboot my machine for the changes to show). But it shouldn’t be happening. And I’m wondering if this is contributing to the other problems in some way.
Think that’s it. Congratulations if ye managed to read it all! Hope it’s clear.

1. The Read more text will appear only if you have words count before<!--more-->
tag greater than the word that you have set in “Appearance => Theme Options => Excerpt/More Tag Settings => Excerpt length(words)”. So, if you want that either change the potion of more tag or decrease the Excerpt length words.2. Thanks, this is know issue and we have already submitted patch in WordPress.org. It will be soon live in version 1.7.1
3. For FB sharing image and text, you can go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/, enter your site URL and click on “Debug”. This will show all the data and images. If it is still showing old then you can click on “Fetch new scrape information” and test it.
4. About the Featured Content issue, thanks we have able to fix it and will update it in version 1.7.1
I hope I have manged to read it all. thanks 🙂
September 8, 2015 at 11:13 pm #66450animaladvocacyMemberThx for that Sakin! I’ll check the Read More and FB issues accordingly.
One other thing – may be a feature – I’ve used the recommended sizes for featured images for the Post Slider at the top of the homepage – it now appears okay on smaller screens – but seems to have a maximum stretch in that on larger screens it doesn’t stretch across the full page and leaves an odd looking gap on either side.
Also, I’m clicking ‘notify me of follow-up replies via email’ after my posts on the support forum threads and amn’t receiving emails (I’ve checked my junk mail and not there either).
Very much appreciate the full responses ye’ve given me. 🙂
September 8, 2015 at 11:24 pm #66453SakinKeymaster@animaladvocacy: For stretch in slider image, you can add the following css in “Appearance => Theme Options => Custom CSS” box:
#main-slider img { width: 100%; }

September 9, 2015 at 1:57 pm #66495animaladvocacyMemberOK. Re Read More tag – this means the Read More text is only shown if the excerpt is less than where I’ve inserted the Insert Read More tag from the kitchen sink (<!–more–>). Which means I can’t use the Insert Read More tag for a clean break in the excerpt AND have the Read More text, ie. Read More text only included if Excerpt length(words) is shorter than the Insert Read More tag – which defeats the purpose of that tag. Dya know what I mean. So needs to be fixed so Read More text appears at break set up through kitchen sink Read More tag.
See ●●● Important Rescue Message ●●● on home page – it’s cut off by kitchen sink tag, but no Read More text.
Hope that’s clearer than mud.
Thx!
MurielSeptember 9, 2015 at 5:47 pm #66526SakinKeymaster@animaladvocacy: If you are working on more tag, then change the layout to Full Content. Then you will have no issue. Just go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Layout Options => Content Layout” and then select “Full Content Display”. This will display all your content and image before more tag. This will ignore your featured image. So, if you want image then you need to insert image in your post itself.
