Hello,
I am new to WordPress/PhotoFocus. I am trying to set up a gallery similar to the one on the PhotoFocus demo. However, I am unsure of how.
I have my WordPress page hosted on Bluehost FWIW.
I have been able to set up my photos using WordPress’s Media Library, but all of the pictures are grainy and the layout is not as nice as the gallery layout shown in the demo.
Could anyone point me in the right direction of how to set this up?
I would really appreciate it!

The section you are referring to is the Portfolio Section. For that you will need to use our Essential Content Types plugin. Install and Activate the plugin.
Go to => Dashboard => Portfolio => Add New Posts and Insert a Featured Image.
Finally,
Go to => Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Portfolio => Enable the section => Select the Portfolio posts and Publish.Let me know if this works out!
Kind Regards,

I already installed and activated the Essential Content Types plugin.
However, I am unable to find the “Dashboard” you are referring to. Where exactly is that? I see a “Dashboard” under the “Bluehost” section of WordPress. I am fairly confident that this is not what you are referring to since I do not see an option for “Portfolio” under that menu option.
I do also see “Portfolio” and “Featured Content” sections on the left menu. However, neither of them has an “Add New Posts” option. Both have an “Add New.” Is either of these sections what you are referring to? Or am I looking in the completely wrong place?
October 11, 2020 at 12:37 am #262086SkandhaParticipant@samuelkneppel: Hello there,
Dashboard is the space which you find after logging into the back end of your website.I do also see “Portfolio” and “Featured Content” sections on the left menu. However, neither of them has an “Add New Posts” option. Both have an “Add New.”
Yes, this is the section I am referring to. Here you will need to add your Portfolio posts.
Then,
Go to => Appearance => Customize => Theme Options => Portfolio => Enable the section => Select the Portfolio posts and Publish.Let me know if this works out!

What is the block that allows the user to click on a photo in order to view it at full resolution? When I created the Portfolio, I selected “Tiled Gallery.” However, that does not allow a user to click on the photo.
October 12, 2020 at 10:43 pm #262343samuelkneppelParticipantNevermind, I figured it out on my own: I had to link it to the media file. Thanks again for your help @Skandha!

SkandhaOctober 13, 2020 at 9:27 pm #262437samuelkneppelParticipantHi. So, I was able to set up the page so that when a media file is clicked, it simply opens the JPG source file itself in a separate tab. However, that is not exactly what I am looking for even though it is an improvement.
How do I set up my site so that once a photo is clicked, it opens up the full resolution photo within the website with the ability to click through to other photos right and left of it, like the demo located here: https://catchthemes.com/demo/photofocus-free/style-guide/gallery/?
I also have a couple of other issues I am running into while trying to set up my website. If you are willing and able to help with my question above as well as my other questions, I will be more than happy to leave you a review!
October 14, 2020 at 4:26 am #262472SkandhaParticipant@samuelkneppel: Hello there,
To have a carousel open when clicked on an image you will need to use our Catch Gallery plugin. To create a catch gallery please follow the instructions in the instructions tab in this link. Please let me know what other issues you are having. Please post in your site URL as well.
Kind Regards,
SkandhaOctober 15, 2020 at 12:24 am #262554samuelkneppelParticipantThank you for your help, I was able to successfully set it up using the instructions you provided.
My website is currently located at https://horizonphotography.co/.
My next issue is that I would like each page of my website (i.e. About, Contact, Gallery, etc.) to show up as https://horizonphotography.co/about, /contact, /gallery, etc. and not ?page_id=XXX, like it currently shows.
Is this change possible and, if so, how do I go about changing this?
Thanks again for your help!
October 15, 2020 at 1:09 am #262599SkandhaParticipant@samuelkneppel: Hello there,
Go to => Dashboard => Settings => Permalinks => Common Settings => Select Post Name and Save Changes.Let me know if this works out!
October 15, 2020 at 9:46 am #262638samuelkneppelParticipantThank you, sir. That was exactly what I was looking for.
One quick note though, I have a “Gallery” page that is showing up as https://horizonphotography.co/portfolio-2/.
Any idea why this is? I have confirmed that in Pages > All Pages, the title of the page is “Gallery,” not “portfolio-2.”
October 15, 2020 at 3:15 pm #262677samuelkneppelParticipant@Skandha, nevermind. I figured that out. Found the Permalink section on the page itself and was able to edit it.
Two more things I am hoping you can at least point me in the right direction for:
1. Is it possible to remove the “PhotoFocus By Catch Themes” in the footer for the free theme? If not, that is totally fine. Maybe sometime soon we will purchase your pro theme.
2. If you look at our site, we have about a two-inch gap between the top menu and the start of each page. Do you know if it is possible to remove that space to make the page more compact?
Again, I really appreciate all the help you have provided so far.
October 16, 2020 at 4:29 am #262732SkandhaParticipant@samuelkneppel: Hello there,
1. To edit the footer text you will need the Footer Editor Options which is only available in pro version of the theme. I suggest you to upgrade to pro. You can check out the additional-features available in pro version of the theme.
2. Go to => Appearance => Customize => Additional CSS and add the following CSS Code.
#content, #content .wrapper { padding-top: 0; }
Let me know if this works out!
Kind Regards,
SkandhaOctober 16, 2020 at 9:15 am #262815samuelkneppelParticipantUnderstood on question 1.
Again, thanks for all your help with everything. At this point, I believe I have no further questions and am happy with how our website turned out.
I will be leaving a nice review for you 🙂
Have a good day!
