    If the overlay text is removed the header image/media then the image changes height.
    Is there a work around for this?

    @fireflywebs: Hello there,
    Go to => Appearance => Customize => Additional CSS and add the following CSS Code.

    .custom-header-content {
    visibility: hidden;
}

    Let me know if this works out!
