I am using Catch Evolution theme – version 1.2 – and the Post Slider has two photos. One is a beautiful white flower, which I like. And one is a brick building, which I don’t. How can I remove that brick photo but keep the white flower? And what are the exact dimensions needed for MY photos to put in the slider? I tried adding one, and it also included text from my post, so perhaps the photo was too small? Rather than experiment with sizes, can you give me a number? Thanks!
November 7, 2013 at 12:49 pm #16917SakinKeymaster@rbrek: Those are the sample images to demonstrate the Slider. In free version of Catch Evolution theme, you will get Featured Post Slider. So, you need to create post with featured image and then add that post ID in “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider”. The size of the images are Width: 644px and Height: 320px.
You can read detail instruction at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-evolution/
You can also take a look at Catch Evolution Pro version for Advance Featured Slider. Read more features at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-evolution-pro/
November 8, 2013 at 8:49 am #16943rbrekMemberThat’s what I needed to know. Thank you so much Sakin!
November 8, 2013 at 11:02 am #16944rbrekMemberActually Sakin, I want to buy a photo from iStock to use as my Featured Photo. The small size (and closest to your dimensions) is 849 x 565 pixels. Your slider uses 644 x 320. Or should I buy the x-small photo and enlarge it? How do I adjust the sizing in WordPress to fit in the slider? Do you know? Thanks!
November 8, 2013 at 10:30 pm #16960SakinKeymaster@rbrek: If you are using Catch Evolution Pro Image Slider, then you can simply upload the image and add the image url. It will show the image auto adjust.
But for Catch Evolution Free theme, there in featured post slier where it auto cuts the image as per the size. So, you can use the image 849 x 565 pixels
November 9, 2013 at 4:02 am #16987rbrekMemberNope. I put in the 849 x 565 photo and it still shows some of the text from my post. How do I get rid of that? That’s happened before too. I am using the Free theme. Shouldn’t this be easy?
November 9, 2013 at 11:31 pm #17012November 9, 2013 at 11:41 pm #17017rbrekMemberhttp://www.restlesshearts.us I’ve now removed the Slider completely, but can put it back up if need be. I didn’t leave the photo I had in it, as it looks weird with the text from my post showing.
November 9, 2013 at 11:54 pm #17022November 9, 2013 at 11:57 pm #17023rbrekMemberOk. I’ve put the Slider back on. Do you want me to put the photo I want to use again, with the text?
November 10, 2013 at 12:41 am #17024SakinKeymaster@rbrek: I need to see the issue in your slider. Here you have loaded demo slider which is fine.
November 10, 2013 at 12:43 am #17025rbrekMemberOk, I’ll put it up for a bit. Give me about five minutes.
November 10, 2013 at 12:47 am #17026rbrekMemberOk Sakin, it’s posted. Let me know how to fix it or when I can take it back down. Thanks!
November 10, 2013 at 1:34 am #17030SakinKeymaster@rbrek: Oh you mean to hide the post text. You can just add the following CSS in “Appearance => Theme Options => Custom CSS” box.
#slider-wrap .featured-text { visibility: hidden; }
November 10, 2013 at 1:38 am #17031rbrekMemberThere! That did it! Obviously I am not a computer programmer, so I need help like this. Thank you so much! The photo looks awesome!!
November 10, 2013 at 4:57 am #17046rbrekMemberOops. Another question. I’m seeing that my very first post is still in the dashboard and shows up when I view it. But it no longer shows up on the bottom on my Blog when the public looks for it. Do you have a button or something to direct to older posts? Where did the oldest post go?
November 10, 2013 at 10:50 pm #17061SakinKeymaster@rbrek: Your site shows that you only have total 10 posts. Where you have “My First Blog” post in your slider and rest in the homepage. Next and Previous will be there only after you have more then 10 posts. If you want to show your slider post in the blog as well then go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider => Featured Post Slider Options” and check “Exclude Slider post from Homepage posts”.
November 10, 2013 at 11:12 pm #17066rbrekMemberOk. I checked the Exclude Slider from Homepage posts. And I added an 11th post. But if you scroll all the way down on the Home page, there still is nothing to indicate there are more posts on the blog. It just ends with my 2nd post. The Previous and Next you mentioned aren’t showing up.
November 11, 2013 at 10:42 am #17070SakinKeymaster@rbrek: Still not enough post, as in your “Settings => Reading” Blog pages show at most.
So, you have total 11 Post, but 1 is featured slider which will not be counted. So, only 10. Try reducing in the Reading settings or increase the number of posts.
November 14, 2013 at 3:47 am #17202rbrekMemberYes Sakin. I now have enough posts and the “older posts” link is showing up. I also realized I had to un-check the part about excluding the slider, not check it. Yes, I am a Newbie.:) I’m learning though. Everything is working well now. Thank you so much for all your help!
