First.. I love the Catch Box Pro theme.

This thread was helpful.. in that I didn’t understand what the featured image slider option allowed.. I was going to ask about providing a way to have the featured slider work for both pages and post.

In the meantime, I looked into the Quick Page/Post redirect plug-in.

Then I saw I can accomplish this using the featured image slider – I can link to a page or post. The only problem is that the post you link to cannot be excluded from the home page.

To get around this, I can use the category inclusion option. I create a category called “blog” or “home” and only posts that have this category show up on the home page. Then, I categorize every post with this category unless I am showing it in the featured slider.

Text over image: 
In another forum post, someone was asking about text overlayed on the image. I think you may have misunderstood his question (or I misunderstood it). He wanted a way to have the text overlayed on the featured slider image. Not below it the way it does not.

I would like the same thing.. basically a way to position the title and excerpt over the featured image in the slider. It should have a semi-transparent background for readability. Just a thought. For now, I will make that part of the image.

I have a child theme but I did not change anything yet. Seems the slider photos dissapear from time to time, but when I notice the are gone I go to the menu options and click save menu and they show up again…

@marieke456: Yes the Featured POst slider will take the image, title and excerpt form the post.

How to add Featured Post Slider
Currently this theme only support Posts as the Featured Slider. To add Featured Slider, follow these basic steps:
1. Click on Appearance -> Theme Options -> Featured Post Slider from your WordPress Dashboard.
2. Click on Slider Options to select various slider options like enable slider, number of slides, transition effect, transition delay and transition length
3. Then Click on Featured Post Slider Options and Add in the Post ID’s in Featured Slider Posts.
4. Click on Save button.

Note:
* When you add the Post Id\’s, make sure you have added in the Featured Image in your Post. See this for Featured Image http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image
* If you are unable to find the post ID then you can install the Catch IDs Plugin to find the Post IDs. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/catch-ids/

If you still have problem then this video about our other theme Simple Catch might help you as this theme also uses Featured Post Slider. Similar concept.

@Sakin Thanks for your help on this. Still not quite there… I can see that my posts have IDs, 1 thru 10, but if I add a post number to the Featured Slider Post field, then no image shows despite having an image in the post. I’ve tried adding eg. “10” and also “#10”

Thanks again, I have seen this video wich was very helpfull when building my website. My question though is if you can add text in the picture on the featured slider, not below it.

So I’m wondering if the content of the featured slider can not only be an image, but text as well. I want to add a slogan into the picture shown on the homepage/in the slider.

If not thanks, thanks anyway, otherwise very curious on how to add this.

I am having the same problem. I have followed all the steps you have provided and I have made an image that is 1140×450 pixels. I add it into the Featured Post Slider Options with the correct ID and it does not same the ID number?

@azie: for that you need to build child theme and edit it. It’s not that easy to change the Post slider image. You need to hire customizer.

But there is one good news. We are launching Catch Everest Pro theme next week where there will be option to use Featured Image Slider. Where you can upload image of any size as there will be image uploader.

Thanks for your reply. I am using the Featured Post Slider, and I am wondering if you can add text into/on the (slider)picture that is shown on the homepage, sort of like a homepage banner on the picture.

Hi Sakin thank you for the response.  The Slider Image is taking up a lot of the space for the homepage.  I would like to be able to shrink the image a little bit so people are able to see the words underneath the slider image as soon as they land on my homepage instead of scrolling down.  I would appreciate if you can help me to reduce the size of the image featured.
