BenitaParticipantHey ya — after digging through the UX, I’ve enabled what the template supports. Namely a secondary menu on the homepage and a sidebar menu that has navigation on the sidebar. Not a great solution because when new pages are created … menus have to be updated…everytime.
So…. this is really a feature request so that the Clean Mag Template is more … well magazine like. 🙂
For example, visit https://www.nytimes.com/section/arts
ASK 1 – Auto-generated sub-menus based on Parent Page.
you’ll see an auto-generated menu for in the Art Section that has Books, Dance etc.
This menu is auto generated based on the parent page of the section.
Ability to have a nav menu apply to only what’s in that section. See NYT example under Arts. Which has various types of “arts” … Television, Music DanceASK 2 – When new page created under parent, option for nav menu’s to automatically update.
Menu Manual Updates:
In the current template design every time a new page is added the menu’s need updated or default to one section. Magazine designs dont’ have one primary section with content. As in the NYT example, all sections get new content. The current template has a feature to “add newly created pages” BUT it doesn’t trigger the creator to determine which section. It just defaults to one parent / section where all pages are added. That doesn’t work well as most sights have sections like a magazine does.
BenitaParticipantSecond item is when at the page level, the navigational sub-pages are available. I’ve created ‘menu’s for these. Am looking around on how to change the page layout so it will pull in the right menu for the right sublevel.
For example: Parent page is “medical services”. When clicked into the Medical Services page, a menu is available that gives navigation to all the sub-pages available under the parent.
BenitaParticipantUsing the “secondary” menu doesn’t address the issue. In the template design, secondary menu persists.
Secondary menu basically puts whatever page/post selected on the home page. What I’m looking for is the ability to click on a primary menu (e.g. aesthetic services) and THEN it shows a secondary menu.
BenitaParticipantHi Skandha, I have sub-pages that do not show up in navigational menus. So essentially there is no way to find the page outside of search. What I’m looking for is how to enable these pages to show up in the menu and not all be at the top level. For example, Click “hello” (link above) and then on the hello page you see a navigational menu that contains links to feedback page, about page and membership page.
