    Hi,

I noticed a few days ago this:

You have version 1.0 installed. Update to 1.1.1.

Please Note: Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications.

What? So all my custom work will be wiped out if I simply update? So, does this mean I HAVE to make a child theme?

I didn’t know about this aspect and don’t dare do anything yet for fear of losing all my custom work.

Any advice and/or suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

@Doren: Here the customization means, customization of core theme files such as functions.php, style.css, index.php and so on. As when you update the theme these files will be replaced by core theme files.

But if you have customize the site using Theme Options Panel then it’s fine. All your changes will remain same even after the update.

Ah, ok. All I’ve done is make changes in the Theme Options including Custom CSS. So, I’ll be fine. I wondered if it might be something like that. I thought it was odd that a Template Update would nullify that stuff. Cool. That really puts my mind at ease. Thanks again!

Again, of course, you were 100% correct and I thank you once again for taking the time to answer these questions. Posting on some forums can be like Russian Roulette even if you get an answer at all, so it’s incredibly cool that you take the time to answer, not only mine, but dozens of others from what I’ve seen. This is just one way of how the Internet works perfectly. Thanks again!
