My homepage is serving as the overall blog and I’d like to limit it to 5 posts, then give users the option of clicking a page number or going to previous posts on the bottom. I went into Settings > Reading and limited this but all posts are still showing up on the homepage. My website is http://www.scifiled.com. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Matt

@mattsmith701: Looks like you change the “Syndication feeds show the most recent” to 5 not the “Blog pages show at most”. So, can you check your settings at “Settings => Readings => Blog pages show at most”.

I’d also like to remove the “Featured” text from the top right corner of each post. Thanks!

I changed both to 5 and I’m still showing every single post on the home page. However, now there’s an “older posts” link at the bottom. Still unsure of what’s going on.

Every post I “stick to the front page” after creating it. Not sure if I should be doing this differently.

@mattsmith701: Oh yes that’s the WordPress featured. All the post that you have made Sticky will not be counted in Reading Settings. That will be auto added.

Thanks a bunch, Sakin. I have one more follow up. How would I remove the entire header section and place my logo on the left side of the menu and the search bar within the menu on the right? Similar to http://www.cnet.com but with the search bar and menu reversed. Thanks!

@mattsmith701: Hum, there is not option to do that. You need to consider hiring customizer to do this level of customization.

There is one option in Catch Flames Pro theme. But yes you can remove that header and add Fixed Header Top menu instead. For that follow the steps:
    1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Header Options” then check disable in “Disable Header” option and save changes. This will remove your header.
    2. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Fixed Header Top Options” then check to enable “Enable Fixed Header Top”, uncheck “Disable Logo in Fixed Header Top”, add your small logo image URL in “Logo in Fixed Header Top” and save changes.
    3. Now, create custom menu from “Appearance => Menus”. If you have already created custom menu then you can skip this step and move to step 4.
    4. Now, assign your custom menu location from “Appearance => Menus => Manage Location” and assign it as Fixed Header Top Menu and save change.

Thanks, Sakin. I like the look of that. Less space wasted. However, my logo size is very small. Any way to blow it up?

Also, the search forces the page to scroll down and it juts out from the drop down box it should reside in. Is there a way to fix this?

@mattsmith701: I see that you are using old version of Adventurous Pro theme. So, first update to latest version and then add the following css in “Appearance => Theme Options => Custom CSS” box for your logo:
    #top-logo img { max-height: 45px; }

I’m actually using Catch Flames Pro. I’m not seeing an update for it. That fixed the logo, but everything else is still messed up. I’m going to switch back to the way I had it for now, but if you can figure out the issue, I’d appreciate it.

@mattsmith701: I see that you are using version 2.0. It’s already updated to version 4.0. Check out change log page at http://catchthemes.com/changelogs/catch-flames-pro-theme/

For update you can check out our theme instructions page at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-flames-pro/. If you want to update from Dashboard then you need to use http://catchthemes.com/wp-plugins/catch-updater/ plugin.
