Hi,
Another question. We are hosting the website http://www.worldcupbrazil.net on Bluehost. Occasionally the website encounters Error 520, 522 or 524. Then the website is offline for a few seconds. We contacted Bluehost in order for them to solve this issue.
They checked on http://www.worldcupbrazil.net/error_log and stated it is the theme which causes these errors. A theme update may solve the issue the support desk stated.
We want to install the theme update (2.9.1) and the WordPress update (3.8). But the thing is, we’re worried all the css code and other modified code will be overwritten? We don’t use any child theme so…is it still possible to install these updates and keep our current code?
Thanks in advance
JoaoJanuary 15, 2014 at 10:13 pm #19330SakinKeymaster@Joaozinho: It’s showing error mostly connection database issue with plugin such as WordPress SEO by Yoast, WP Minify and few functions. It’s the connection between the site and database issue. Wrong information from Bluehost.
About the update. If you haven’t customize the core theme files then the update is simple. So, we recommend to change the theme by Custom CSS box and theme options panel and for core theme function build child theme and edit it.
January 15, 2014 at 10:36 pm #19336JoaozinhoMemberI see…so the only way to solve these errors is to stop using certain plugins?
With core theme files you mean e.g. header.php? These I think they have been modified. How to change the theme in the theme options – custom CSS box? Is it dangerous to update it through dashboard?
By the way can I continue the website without the update if it is much trouble? At least for 6 months? Or would you really advise me to install these updates asap?
January 15, 2014 at 10:39 pm #19337SakinKeymaster@Joaozinho: If you want to edit header.php files then you need to build child theme and edit the header.php file in your child theme. Also most of functions can be changed by adding the functions in your child theme functions.php file.
If you are ok with the theme then you don’t necessary need to update. To update the changed files, I recommend it to test first in your test server and work on changes.
January 15, 2014 at 10:43 pm #19339JoaozinhoMemberOkay thanks, and about the plugins, is there anything I can do? Removing certain plugins in order for those errors not to occur?
January 15, 2014 at 10:46 pm #19341SakinKeymaster@Joaozinho: As per my knowledge it’s database connection issue not the plugin issue. Hope it will not happen again.

January 17, 2014 at 4:07 am #19382bossydsmomParticipantI just tried to update my Cath Box Pro and I can’t get it to work. Do I have to erase the copy I have on my computer and reinstall it on my computer and then reinstall it on to my wordpress? This sucks….. I have lost my blog and all of the work I just recently did to it.
I have gone to my account and downloaded the link there and tried to upload it to my wordpress site and it won’t work. Then I tried to submit a ticket to support and found that even though I purchased the theme, it doesn’t come with support… that’s an additional cost??
January 17, 2014 at 7:51 am #19383SakinKeymaster@bossydsmom: There is clear steps of instruction mention in our theme instruction page at http://catchthemes.com/theme-instructions/catch-box-pro . Your blog content and works are not stored in Theme. It is stored in your database. So, you will not lose anything is just deleting and adding new themes.
Your purchase come with Support Forum access and if needed email support as well. I will email you if you need email support. Support Ticket needs support membership.
